so quiet on the big names though...

Been to a lot of Dynamo games this summer, and am sad to see Cameron go to Stoke... he doesn't even look like an Orc, not a great fit imo. He's actually a very solid player though, hope he does really well and moves to a different club quickly...

I'm *optimistic* that Cazorla will get done, as it looks like Malaga need the cash. They need to pay up by July 31st or they're going to be removed from the Champions League next season and relegates to the spanish second division. If it happens, it will likely be over the weekend.

Didn't get to watch any of Arsenal Man City earlier - any standouts?

  3. Carroll to WestHam or Newcastle???

  4. Please God, no . . . NOT back to the Toon.
  5. I dont see him going anywhere but Newcastle.
  6. I hate you . . . We do NOT need Carroll. the only reason would be to rub the profit in Fenway's faces. They have Ba, they have Cisse, they have Shola (lol), and Sammy. Spend the money elsewhere . . .
  7. Think Ba will be gone by the end of the window. Heard some talk that he could be part of the Carroll deal. Would be awful from Newcastle's POV
  8. I think Carroll's actually got some potential. He's solid in the air, which is worth something at least. If I were Liverpool I'd probably hang on to him a bit longer -- but then again if Rodgers doesn't wan't him for his style - I guess they have no choice but to sell now.

Actually pretty surprised that Newcastle hasn't been poached more than they have. Ba, Cisse, Tiote, etc. were all fantastic last season and I had assumed would be moving on.

Also, looks like Chevrolet has signed-on to he Manchester United shirt sponsor starting in 2014-2015 -- that ought to be interesting.

It is called loyalty. Also, the potential increase in their marketability should the Toon consolidate their position as a Champions League Qualifying threat this year means they give up a little to potentially make a huge profit later. That scum Ashley is nothing if not greedy.
  10. Looks like you're safe. Loan deal to West Ham

Its hardly loyalty, if the offers came in they would go, no question about it. I just thought there would be offers from some of the bigger clubs for these guys.

without a doubt. Newcastle and Arsenal are both similar in that way. They buy young players cheap and look to make a profit on them. Just the way the clubs are run
  13. On an unrelated note, I'm going to see the Houston Dynamo play the NY Red Bulls on Friday... I am hoping that TH14 sees my Arsenal jersey and comes running to meet me, and I share a priceless moment with a true legend.

If for some strange reason that doesn't happen, still excited to see him play live for the first time.

  14. I am not so sure about that anymore. The Toon are on pretty solid financial footing already, and the bonus that is Europa League play will no doubt swell the coffers. If they maintain their sensible transfer policies, and improve their play (or hold fast), I think they might do alright against the free spenders. Also, you might lump ManU into that group since the Glazer takeover, if only marginally.
  15. Pienaar back to Everton

  16. Deadline day for Cazorla, really hoping we get him inked today. If you see any sort of confirmation, please post... due to olympic spoilers I've sworn off every news/sports/social media site.

That is a good "get" for Moyes. LOL at Carroll rejecting West Ham due to a lack of European football. Like he's gonna get a sniff with Liverpool?

Well, I wasn't really expecting things to go quite this well - but I got to the game a little early and managed to get by security and down to the players tunnel. There were probably 10 or so people there waiting for Thierry on one side of the tunnel trying to get something signed -- he eventually came out for pregame and signed a few things, then moved to the other side of the tunnel and shook hands with some members of the supporters section across the way. When he crossed back over he skipped over a bunch of people -- but he caught me on the end as the last one. It's not much of a signature, but I'm extremely pumped to have it. I'm not really a memorabilia guy, but this is one autograph / experience I really wanted. I wish I had said something more, but, I was a bit starstruck and froze =[, lol. It all happened so fast! Hopefully he could tell from my eyes that I loved him.

In other news, the Dynamo unveiled a new game day tradition, of firing an old cannon, I guess the dynamo are Gunners now too:

The supporters section got a new tarp/flag (celebrating the first goal in the 2nd minute):

Annddd the Dynamo won 2-0 to take the lead in the East. Best atmosphere i've seen at the stadium so far, it was really loud throughout. Unbeaten in the first 11 games at the new stadium, 8-3-0.

Definitely, I didn't really look at the signature until I got back to my seat -- and had a moment where I thought, "wait, he just scribbled :(" but, cant complain - I got the experience of being there and wouldn't be looking to sell it anyway.

  21. Anything to the rumors that RVP is staying at Arsenal?

No way to really know, but, it seems that interest for him has cooled... he is an incredibly injury prone player that just turned 29 - and is looking for outrageous wages.

I think he'll eventually be sold though - I'd like him to be sold quickly. While I think Arsernal will have some work cut out for them in replacing his production, I dont think it will be impossible. The new boys that have been brought in look like a very competent attack force -- Cazorla alone is an extremely talented attacking mid/winger and two time Euro Cup champion with Spain (woulda won the world cup, but missed the tournament due to injury). If he can get into the Spanish national team, he can have a place on my team any day.

  23. Putin and Gazprom might invest heavily in AC Milan right after they sold their most valuable guys to dip their worth slightly... nice life.

  24. I just dont see Van Persie staying without signing a new contract. Its just not the arsenal way to let players like him go on a free at the end of their contracts when we could get around £15m for him now
  25. Santi Cazorla from Malaga to Arsenal for 15 million euros. Pretty amazing that he cost 19 million before last season, had a great year and led his team to the Champions League, and then goes for less money. Soccer's finances are soooo screwed, particularly in Spain.

Also, Usain Bolt to Man U?

  26. Really nice to see him up on the official site - what a fantastic piece of business. For less than the cost of Andy Carroll, Arsenal have brought in a 27 year old Spanish International in the prime of his career, a 27 year old German international that already has 100 caps for the national team with 40+ goals, and a 25 year old French striker who led Ligue 1 in goals last season.

  27. That isn't even the best part . . . the best part is that, even if RVP does go, this team might be better off anyway. If he ends up extending for a year (based on the squad improvements), he can still be sold in January to bolster the kitty to continue the remodelling. Arsenal has done a nice bit of business this off-season, regardless of how the RVP soap opera ends. Of the big clubs, I think they have been the overall winners in terms of a value for dollar acquisitions. Newcastle has done well, simply by not losing players (so far), but they cannot be called one of the "big" clubs yet (sorry Geordies, face facts).
  28. I'm hoping we sell RvP -- if hes not committed to the club I don't want him playing for the club, pretty much as simple as that. Even if he stays, hes got to forfeit the captaincy which is going to be a giant mess in itself to deal with internally. Lets get him shipped off to Italy and begin the new era.

  29. RVP saga is definitely not good for either party however either way wont be the end of the world.

If he plays he needs to play well to get interest and a bigger wage packet. If he goes we get more kitty money.

Happy with our players in, wish we would get rid of some dead wood, and I hope that the Alex Song to Barca doesnt become serious
