I wrote a blog a few months ago analyzing the effects of marijuana on poker. The goal of the project was to play sober for 30 days and then play stoned the next 30 days and evaluate how much weed really did affect my poker game. I only lasted 9 days. Since then I have realized the true addictiveness of marijuana and have ceased smoking. It has been almost 30 days. I never want to smoke again. I encourage stoners and non stoners to read my blog and to go through the journey that I went through.
Quitting weed is one of the best decisions I have ever made because it allowed me find my true self -
I can relate to this. I was broke for a couple months and could not smoke. Toughest a couple months I had in a long time. Yet things seemed to turn around for me.

i also just recently stopped smoking weed, and i must say i feel like it has greatly improved my play. while i think i tilt a little more, my decisions are more thought out and the best thing is i wake up every morning wanting to play, not matter how bad the day before was. when i was smoking, i would wake up, not really wanting to play, but id get high and say f it, might as well.
i quit for personal health reasons, was having anxiety/panick attacks, but im happy it all happend, because i find myself to be happier, more social, a better boyfriend, and a better poker player.
weed is overrated -
Whenever i dont smoke im a lot better person. I actually have a personality and am fun to be around. Im sociable. Its the exact opposite when I smoke. I notice it all the time. Never do I actually ponder quitting though

you should try man. my gf pointed the same thing out to me. she said whenever i was high, i was so dull and boring to be around. id just sit there and not wanna talk and just watch a movie.
not smoking, im down to go out a lot more, drink and have fun a lot more. and im a lot more talkative to people when im out. its really not that hard, once u havnt smoked in a few days and realize how much you don't care and feel better about yourself u prob wont wanna smoke anymore -
lol @ 9 days. Are you serious? So you werent a pot head when this experiment started?
I'd be more interested in seeing the results of a regular pot head who smokes and plays for a month, then quits and plays for a month.
Not a guy who doesn't smoke on the reg, then tries to smoke daily for a month straight. obviously thats destined to fail.

that would be me mr. blonde.
i have smoked every day about 5-10 times a day for about 8 years...longest i went was 10 days when i was in ireland two summers ago, and aside that, prob like 2 days when i couldnt find any....and now that i have been clean for over a month now, i can see that i play much much better...the one downside is the tilt factor, weed easily cured tilt, and now i just kind of have to take deep breathes, smoke a cigarette, and forget about it. but as an overall, i think im a much better player not smoking than smoking, and much MUCH more motivated -

Oh I know what you are saying. I had to stop for a while when I was 18. I was a completely different person for the time I stopped. Exactly like you explained. It was tough for a couple weeks but after a while you dont really even think about it. It did kind of turn me into a little alcholic though. Kind of just substituted one drug for the other. But yeah I was a lot better, sociable and well rounded person when I stopped. Im gonna go smoke a bowl now.

weed is the de-motivation drug. So much so you dont give a shit about 2 outters on the river or even leaving the house.

I miss weed. Fuck you ingrates for not appreciating weed.
-
So you quit weed and still smoke cigarettes? Ehh...I think you got it all mixed up. Quit cigs first than weed. No reason to smoke anything at all if you arent gonna smoke weed.

weed is magical
now you can no longer produce magic -
I agree I cant smoke either for a while and I miss it. I used to be the smoke all day play poker and that can get tiresome for sure. I will smoke again but because of how it totally makes me want to do nothing it will be at the end of the day when work/exercise is done with and I can just chill out for a few hours before bed.
