Any help here? Podcasts perhaps? I can't surf the web because it's highly monitored. I text occasionally and listen to my iPod while I do audits of expense reports and such. What can I do to keep my mind entertained? Finding new music every night is already a main priority.
-
Im not paying you to be entertained..Im paying you to work!
-
audiobooks dude
-
If it's highly monitored then why are you making threads in OT
-
I would recommend getting a girl pregnant so in 9 months you can start working from home.
-
You and a cubicle? omg ... the possibilities are endless for new threads
front runner to regain plattsburgh this year -
How old/social are the other people in the office? At my old company I went from having my own office to being in cubes with 20 others and the cubes were so much fun it was unreal - I thought it was going to be awful. Once you are friends with some of the others it will get better.
One game me and a buddy played - we had a nerf type ball and the game was to throw it over the cube wall (you couldn't see the garbage can it was a no look shot) into the other persons garbage can which they could move once a day but had to obviously be makeable. We did tons of other stupid shit to make a shitty job fun. Holy shit thinking back to those days I HATED my job but had so much fun screwing with my coworkers I miss it. Man the cubes were so much fun. -

I listen to the 2+2 Podcast every week as well as ESPN and CBS college hoops ones. Try grooveshark for sure as u can setup sweet playlists

Pretty much that. If surfing got people fired, I would have been canned a long time ago. I've been working in a cube for years and it would be scary to know how much time I've spent online at work lol. In fact, I'm "working" right now. That's right, damn the man. YOU HEAR ME? ARE YOU WATCHING ME? COME ONNNNNNNN, BRING IT. That's what I thought. I'll just go back to browsing p5's, fantasy hockey, and the rest of the bookmarks to pass the time.
-
I'd probably focus on not fucking up my new job for the first couple months instead of wondering how to keep my mind occupied at work but hey, that's just me. Cosign with others about podcasts.
-
LOL Xmas I was just thinking after seeing this and reading in another thread he just started monday he should prolly worry about excelling at work and getting past probation period than how to fuck around during the day. If you dont smoke pick it up it'll allow you to take a few "Breaks" during the day

Edited By: Xmas32 Jan 26th, 2012 at 08:49 PMI obviously like most anything sports related, but the bolded ones are excellent. If it's music on NPR, I'm probably going to be a fan of it. I wish they provided a link to 'Sound Opinions', I really enjoy that show.Originally Posted by Goldenad

yeah because there's so much you can do to impress the big guns upstairs sitting in a fucking cube doing audits, like listening to something entertaining would totally fuck up your ability to do such a monumental task -
Working in a cubicle has to be the WORST job EVER. if you have a college degree, what the fuck are you doing working in a cubicle.
I'd rather be unemployed than work in a cubicle 24/7
It may suit some people, but no way would it suit me. -
yes because only highschool dropouts get the honor of the cube, no way half the people itt are real

Edited By: Popperhead Jan 26th, 2012 at 08:55 PMUnderstandable but if you're getting extremely bored 3 days in I feel sorry for you in 10 months.Originally Posted by BigEarn7

I myself have always worked for small businesses and for one wouldn't hate working with a bunch of people. Meeting some interesting new folks and possibly fucking a few of the slutty co-workers. -
BigEarn worded his thread poorly. Whenever, I hear the term 'keep my mind entertained' I assume the person has difficulty focusing on the task at hand. This thread is classic BigEarn. I really hope this job works out for him. OT will benefit as a collective from the thread gold that will ensue.

Wtf are you talking about? At a large company you have to work your way into the offices. Making avp or vp is something you earn.
