  1. I really didnt have any plans for Spring Break, was just gonna chill and play some golf here in Houston. My sister borrowed my truck the week before to move some things in Austin, so I decided I would drive up there mid-week and switch rides. The plan was really to get my truck and drive back the next morning. Little did I know what was ahead of me.

I went out that Wednesday night to a friends company party with free drinks, decent bands. Got a text that a few bands were playing at the new ACL (Austin City Limits) Studio. Went over there and saw DeVotcKa, Flogging Molly. Went back to the party after the shows and we were feelin pretty good at this point. Got a call from a friend who said to come down to this other show. We got a pedi-cab and headed down there. He walked us right into vip and we saw Moby was playing. hahahaha. at least we were in vip having free drinks after 2am, but still felt pretty gay being at a moby show.

Thursday, went to a HBO Treme party where the Dirty Dozen Brass Band was playing. If you havent seen the DD, I extremely encourage you to do so. Great party, awesome music and a good time was had by all. All of my friends at this point have wristbands and badges and are getting ready to walk over to the ACL Studios to see Preservation Hall Jazz Band and Widespread Panic. This is the show ive been wanting to see. Im a big Panic fan and this was being taped for tv. Make a long story short, I snuck in and was pretty pumped...and then I met my favorite golfer outside, Freddy Couples. He went to UH and I go there now so...

Preservation Hall Jazz Band had Jim James (from My Morning Jacket) come out and play with them, pretty awesome. Panic tore it up as usual, the setlist really didnt do it justice but it was a great show.

Jumped on the road Friday to go back to Houston cause I was hosting a crawfish boil with a bunch of friends on Saturday. (plus I wanted to see my gf at this point) Wildfires on the highway about 45 outside of Austin. Sat there for over an hour and didnt move. Got really pissed and convinced my gf to pack a bag after work and just come to Austin for the weekend. I turned right back around and went back of course. We didnt do to much that night, had dinner and some drinks and went back to a friends place where they had a spare bedroom for us.

We woke up satuday and had a great brunch downtown with some of her cousins. We then drove out to the lake to see my sisters and my nephew who I really wanted to see. We were tired after that and just went back to my friends and took a nap. Woke up from a text from my good buddy who got us into that Moby show and said he had a suprise for us. He said to meet him at this bar at 11:30 pm. So the lady and I go check out this other show and saw a band ive been wanting to see, A Silent Film. Check them if you dont know who they are.

Finally met up with my friend and he handed us badges to the most sought after show at sxsw. Mos Def, John Legend, Kid Cudi, Kanye with Jay-Z.

Im sure he loved all the white people there.

    Cliffnotes:
-Went to austin to trade cars with sister, stayed for a few days
-saw a bunch of great shows, met fred couples
-happen to get into kayne, jay-z show, pics provided

  30. Gotta say that I couldn't disagree with you any more about your Moby show assessment. I've seen him twice at massive raves and the guy thumps it harder than most top ten DJs...It's def not "Porcelain" or experimental. Your story was a good one other than that
