Any of you play them? Thoughts? I'm heading to Myrtle Beach the day after Memorial Day and need to pick up some balls. Normally I play NXT Tours and am happy with them, but I found a deal that's buy two get one free on cases of Taylor Made Penta TP's.
-
I liked them better than nxts the few times ive found them on the course, but someone will chime in with better info Im sure.
-
I recently bought the 2 dozen for $35 for the Callaway HX hot plus and I really like them. I'd like to get enough iron control to justify playing Pro V's maybe one day.

IMO they are the best ball out there though.
Played with a buddy that was hitting the new penta, he was spinning the crap out of it. Almost to much in my opinion, they are way softer than the pro v. They seem to keep up distance wise though. -
It all just depends on the feel you're looking for. If you like a soft feel around the greens then this is def. the ball for you. If you're a long hitter then I would probably stick with the NXT Tours or upgrade to the ProV.
I've actually been playing the TaylorMade Tour Black's and like them just as much as the Pentas ... they are basically the rival to the ProV's before Penta came out. -
Way too soft. Spin like a moths fucker. Nxt's might be the best bang for your buck on a golf ball. So durable.
Try the callaway tour is or ix or Sri on zstar xv if you're looking for a feel ball that will be cheaper than the pro v -
Such an enormously overrated stat. Titleist pays more golfers the most money to play their ball. Taylor Made pays more golfers the most money to play their Driver. I would hope they have the most tour wins.

This is coming from someone that plays a Taylor Made driver and hits Titleist balls, lol. -
how many dozen are in a case ???
-
These stats aren't even close to what they actually really are either. One year, Ping had a representative on the range talking to caddy's. If the player put a Ping Driver in his bag, they received $5,000. They never even had to hit it either, just had to be in the bag, giving them an edge in stats. So rediculous.

Also, did you know that the caddies on the PGA tour get $200 from the big name companies, anytime their logo on the bag is seen on TV coverage. -
i really like them but to go from nxt's to them is not really a great idea. srixon z stars are a good ball
-
I played my first round with Penta TP's yesterday, got 2 boxes for 50 dollars and they are easily my new favorite ball, I really liked ProV1's but for a novice golfer i was putting spin on the ball and zipping it back at the pin and really liked the soft feel
Penta> ProV1 IMO (obviously everyone has dif preferences) -
Get the Callaway Is for the same deal. Better ball too.
Wonder how the selling of titleist will affect everything now. -
should be interesting to see what happens with sponsorships. I guess Fortune Brands really needed the cash.
-
1.2 billion is a shit ton but one of the reps told me that they got a bargain at that price.

Just played the Penta for the first time today and loved it. I was very pleased with how it reacted on the greens, loved the feel of it and, most importantly, loved its durability.

The Titleist ProV1 is probably the best golf ball there is, but I just can't afford it. It scuffs and scratches too easily. Hit it in the bunker, and you're down a ball. For the price you pay, it's just not worth it. I found the same problems with the Callaway balls.
The TM Penta proved to have the spin I wanted and the durability I was looking for. I hit a couple trees, and the ball was still left in very good shape. A+ to the Penta. -
FWIW the newest ProV1X is like 3x more durable than the older one. That combined with conforming grooves means balls can last 9-12 holes for tournament play and an additional 54 holes for practice without seeing a significant drop in performance.
I wouldn't know anything about the new ProV1 or Penta tho. -
I just picked up two dozen of these, but haven't used them yet.
