Tebow's pre-Wonderlic prayer request falls flat
Posted by Mike Florio on March 23, 2010 7:20 PM ET
As we've mentioned once or twice, quarterback Tim Tebow's habit of openly expressing his religious beliefs could potentially rub folks the wrong way, especially in a locker room of grown men who choose to keep their beliefs to themselves, who don't share his beliefs at all, and/or who only want to hear "God bless" after they have sneezed.
We're told that Tebow already has gotten a taste of the resistance he might face at the next level.
At the Scouting Combine, the Wonderlic exam is administered to players in groups. The 12-minute test is preceded by some brief instructions and comments from the person administering the test.
Per a league source, after the person administering the test to Tebow's group had finished, Tebow made a request that the players bow their heads in prayer before taking the 50-question exam.
Said one of the other players in response: "Shut the f--k up." Others players in the room then laughed.
We're not passing judgment on this one; we're just passing along what we've heard. And it illustrates the type of challenges that could be faced by the team that drafts Tebow.
That said, some teams might embrace those challenges. The final decision will depend largely on the composition of the team, and the personalities of the coach, the G.M., and the owner. -
good, i'm sick and tired of having to respect others religious beliefs. I don't go out of my way to insult anyone, but don't get mad when you try to tell me to pray and i tell you to go fuck off.
lol @ religion -
"Which one of them rookie faggots said that shit? I'm gonna stomp his guts out."

I like Tebow's style
nobody ever said it was gonna be easy
and im positive this will not deter him in anyway -
thats weird cuz most black people in the nfl are always prayin and talken bout god and shit. its pretty common in football, prayer and what not.
-
Good, It's kind of arrogant of him to think HIS religion is something everyone else wants to participate in. What the fuck is wrong with people? JEEZ!
-
Part of being a christian is spreading the word to everybody not just when its easy.

thanks, "LiLWebbie"

I grew up a JW and their logic was if you had a cure for cancer (or some deadly disease) wouldn't you want to tell people about it?
lol that is pretty funny tho. Doubt Tebow will have the same problems when he gets on a NFL team because even though some of the younger players probably feel like telling him to STFU, there will be plenty of veterans who are just as religious as Tebow. -
at least tebow is a good hearted guy that we all hate. he means well.
-
I'll bet the person that made the rude comment scored worse than Tebow....
-
Obv the guy got in his head before god could whisper him the answers.
-
hopefully whoever said stfu is a linebacker and he runs into tebow on the field one day in the near future....GG
-
In before Fed makes a law saying they must respect prayer before and during all NFL activities or face fine of 10% salary.

love it

oh god, i pray that believer82 is sober when he opens this thread

Tebow's a douche imo. Keep that prayer shit to urself. If he were muslim, would he ask everyone to praise Allah before the test??? I don't think God gives a shit about the Wonderlic anyways.
-
Like him or hate him the dude is a beast and I think he will surprise a lot of people at the NFL level. I think the intangibles that he brings to the table will make up for some of his shortcomings. Obv he doesn't have Vick speed but the dude can run and if he can learn to play under center effectively then I think he will have a solid career. He seems to have really improved his throwing mechanics but only time will tell whether or not he has the accuracy and intelligence to beat NFL defenses.
I think it will take him a year or two to develop but I think his grittiness will eventually earn him a starting role.
As for asking the other rookies to say a prayer b4 the wonderlic, I'd have to say that's a lil bit silly. The dude that told him to shut the fuck up is probably a piece of shit tho. -
I think this story is awesome. I can completely picture the way he said it and everything, like he was taking charge and rallying the troops around him to get ready for this test. Then some smart ass who's obviously sick of hearing about how great Tebow is just belts out a dry and loathing "stfu" as he shakes his head and disregards the Chosen One, which brings on the laughs of his peers.

LOL, man this guy better get with Kurt Warner quick.
