  1. They arrived on Canada's doorstep with overnight bags, a birthday cake and plans to celebrate.
They left after five days locked up in jail with criminal records and a deportation order banning them from returning.
Two American teens admitted in court Friday they entered the country illegally earlier this week in a botched birthday getaway.
Court heard that Jawara Johnson, 18, of Washington, D.C. tried to smuggle his girlfriend, Toi Peace, 19, of Rochester, N.Y. across the border in Niagara Falls, Ont., in the trunk of his car Monday.
Defence lawyer Donald Wolfe explained the couple planned to spend a couple of days seeing the sights in the Falls to celebrate Johnson's upcoming 19th birthday.
While Johnson had a valid passport with him, Peace didn't, he said.
Rather than giving up on the trip, they decided Peace would flip down the back seat of the car and hide in the trunk until they crossed the border.
However, Wolfe said, a Canadian Border Services officer became suspicious of Johnson and quickly found Peace hiding in the trunk.
The teens were arrested on charges of illegally entering the country and held in custody since Monday.
"There's no cure for stupidity," Judge Joseph Nadel said, as he listened to a summary of the facts.
"They made a very dumb mistake."
Peace pleaded guilty to one count of failing to present herself for examination to enter the country. Johnson pleaded guilty to helping his girlfriend with the crime and withholding or misrepresenting facts by keeping quiet about her presence.
Johnson and Peace were to be handed over to immigration officials after their release and deported back to the U.S. They will be banned from returning to Canada.
"You're very fortunate," Nadel told them, after not giving them jail time for their stunt. "I mean this - don't come back."

  4. During one of my deployments a guy on a Military Sealift ship (resupply ship run by civilians) had smuggled a filipna chick onto the ship. He had her locked in his stateroom for like 5 days before he got busted. Needless to say he got kicked off the ship and the chick sent back. Funny stuff.
