    Marvin Wilson, Texas Man With 61 IQ, To Be Executed In Days

    "In their bid to halt the execution, Wilson's allies point to a 2004 psychological exam that measured his IQ at just 61. In Texas, the benchmark for mental retardation is an IQ of about 70 or below. Other states use a threshold IQ of 75 or lower."

    "This case really does very much push the line," said Paul Campos, a professor at the University of Colorado Law School, who is not involved with Wilson's defense. "We're talking about a mental child."

    His conviction was based on the testimony of his co-defendant's wife, she said Wilson told her he pulled the trigger. Her husband was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole, how convenient.

    Should a person with an IQ of 61 be able to reproduce? I can definately agree to them having one kid as they would not be capable of taking care of two.

    It does seem that there's a lack of aggravating factors here and many mitigating factors.

    In a normal felony murder case, though, the non-shooter is just as culpable as the shooter. If there are aggravating circumstances, I think you can put the non-shooter to death.

    All this is moot, though, as 61 IQ should be mentally handicapped in any state. As the defense attorney stated, if you can dismiss a 61 IQ, the SC's ruling is a hollow rule. Let the states decide, pfff. It's Texas, ffs.

    anyone who hits a 61 didn't get there by intending to. imio (inexpert)

    they didn't really say why the prosecution objected to the 61 rating, just said that his behavior showed normal intelligence (didn't say what behavior) and so the findings were mixed. wtf?

    so you have taken an online IQ test, got a score of 150 and think that is realistic/means any thing.

    I think you've just taken your IQ test and failed. and I'm not talking about the night you handed 1500 bucks to some dude with a plastic badge.

    Also, it was 3k and real cops and will bet you any amount up to 10k ( only liquid I got now) that I can prOve via courts
