Stuck in Dallas Airport. Supposed to have an hour layover here. Our flight was delayed like 30 minutes through no fault of ours. We still made it too the gate 3 minutes before it was supposed to take off. Yet they closed boarding. Yet he knew my name when I got there. So they knew we were coming and from where and why yet I can't get on the flight I paid for. And who the fuck knows if my suitcase with my stuff in it that I had to spend 25 bucks to check in will be if it's there at all. Anybody in Dallas want to put me up if im stuck here again..
-
They had to de ice the plane at takeoff and they said there was a tower delay in Dallas cause a runway was closed. But that's my fault. And I wasn't late. I was at the gate at 1037 for 1040 departure.
-
Can you imagine if everyone made a thread when they missed a connection?
I also get sick of people on FB, Twitter, etc. that complain about flights being delayed, not being able to board flights, missing luggage, etc. Yeah it sucks, but didn't you think there was a possibility of this happening when you booked the flight?
Next time drive, you still possess that right (unless you are WAR, tmac456 or someone else without a license) -
isn't 10:40 the time that the wheels are actually supposed to be up?
Probably my favorite part of reading about "airline travel horror stories" (please note the word horror is used very, very loosely):
People that are three minutes "early" and expect to be let on the plane are the same people that if they were on the plane would be complaining that they waited an extra five minutes to let some guy on that was running late. -
Dude, you showed up at the gate at 10:37 for a 10:40 flight? It's an airline flight, not the shuttle bus to Scranton
-
You don't understand, it's 3 minutes from the time it takes off while its on the runway. You fail to realize they close the doors 20 minutes prior to that time so they can get out to the runway. Why would they potentially jeopardize 100+ other people's time over 2-3 people? Makes no sense, they did the right thing from a scheduling perspective.

I've had late flights before and delays but never missed a connection. It wasn't like I stumbled out of bed late. I was at BDL early like they requested. I was on the first flight. DFW air traffic control holds us up. I still get to the gate before takeoff. The agent knew my name when I got there. He knew where we were coming from. I paid for my flight. Yet im stuck in Dallas Airport.

Delta did this to me one time when I was traveling to Tallahassee, FL. It is frustrating. Our flight was delayed in Raleigh due to weather and we missed our connecting flight in Atl. They gave us a $20 voucher to go buy dinner, lol. They told us we would likely have to take the first flight out in the morning, meaning we were spending the night in the airport. Weeeeeee. I was not a happy camper about trying to sleep in the airport. Luckily, they somehow managed to find us seats on the last flight out that night instead. Hope your situation gets resolved quickly and without any furhter inconvenience.
-
Even worse they made Afink pay for two seats
:) -
Lol nice. Im big im not that big. Just squeezed in my seat. Lucky I lost that 28lbs.
-
Lots of misinformation ITT. 10:40 is the gate departure time not wheels up. Total flight time is gate to gate not runway to runway and accounts for taxi time to and from runways. Sounds to me like the flight was sold out and some standby passenger got your seat. UL, GG.
-
Exactly. The plane was still there. The door was still open.
-
And just a little added info. Wheels up time is dictated by the FAA and will be assigned once a flight plan is submitted. Most of the time it's a "whenever you're ready" but in high traffic areas of the country (New York, Atlanta, Chicago, LA. etc) or on high volume routes (North East corridor), or in bad weather the time will be very specific and it's up the to controllers working the airport to get them out on time.

AA sucks balls, but DFW has some good bbq.
-
DFW gonna DFW, I seemingly always had problems whenever I had to fly through there. I rarely fly on AA anymore so I'm usually able to avoid it.
-
These days I'm just happy to be on any plane that takes off on time. You showed up 3 minutes before takeoff? Flying n00b.
-
I showed up through the error of AA not mine.
-
So much fail itt. This is sfstandard. Also reminds me of that luis ck stand up. (can't youtube at work)
-
read the thread noobs, he was CONNECTING in DFW, not the first flight.
-
In all actuality if it is the airlines fault that he has to stay an extra night they will almost definitely give him a cab fare and free hotel room for the night.
-
OMG 30 WHOLE MINUTES AND THEN THEY WOULDN'T DELAY ANOTHER FLIGHT FOR YOU THIS IS AN OUTRAGE
-
they should have left the ice on the plane, then maybe you would have crashed and you couldn't make a thread bitching how you missed a flight.....
