I've decided right now, at 11:42 EST, that I am gonna make a real attempt at losing weight and being a healthy person.
I was laying in bed tonight, and could just hear my heart pounding very fast just to keep up. Sometimes I get a feeling like I am having a cramp in my chest area. It's time to do something about it, I am done worrying about how unhealthy of a person I am.
I am 6'3 192 lbs right now, and by the next month or two, I am going to make an effort to try and lose 5-10 lbs. No more taco bell runs at 2am after I am done with a study sesssion. No more going to arbys or chipotle on my break at work. No more pizza rolls or whatever god awful things I eat at home. I hardly engage in any physical activity most days.
I haven't really been in shape since I was in high school (four years ago) and have trouble even walking up a long flight of stairs at times.
Here is what I am thinking of making my daily eating routine (suggestions on this are more than welcome, but I can't cook fwiw)
Breakfast:
cereal with skim milk
oj
banana
lunch:
turkey sandwich with a low fat cheese
carrots, or an apple or something
dinner:
subway turkey and ham on wheat
(really looking for a kind of chip or cracker here that would be healthy enough for me to eat)
fat free yogurt
I am gonna give up pop as well, going to try and just drink water (aside from the oj)
I plan on starting to go out and run every other day-- a mile or two to start and work my way up (used to be able to run 10 with ease haha), and alternate those days with either 100 pushups or 100 crunches on those days.
Do you guys have any suggestions that might help me on my way, either with a simple workout routine or a meal suggestion? I can't afford any gym memberships atm, or any workout equipment.
Is there anyone else planning to start something like this pretty soon, or is already trying at the moment? I feel like if I am documenting something it may go better than previous half-assed attempts, so I think I just might keep this as an on-going thread of how its going -
6 3, 192 LOL fat? whatttt
-
seriously?
you aren't fat you just need some cardio work. -
6'3 192 ?
mbsfn
and ive said this multiple times in the last 6 months or so. and im good for a week and then it's back to my old shitty ways. -
I would be SHOCKED if i was under 20% body fat
-
lol @ op
-
shit... that doesnt sound fat.
I am 5'8 and was at 205. That was about 2 months ago and now im at 185. I need to lose another 15-20.
But I can def tell im in much better shape then i was. -
Your not fat you moron
-
doing cardio + eating healthier is always solid.
it's not just about weight, bodyfat is important too (like you alluded to later on in the thread) so yeah gl. i feel like you might need a little more protein in your suggested diet though.
p.s. all those lol'ing at weight...i know it sounds ridiculous but I can see where OP is coming from. a few months ago I was 6', 150 lbs but I had a pretty big gut and ass still, just ridic skinny arms/chest etc. weee for my workout program though, tyty BAntares -
i just made this thread because my friggin heart is scaring me half to death. not worried as much about losing weight as i am dying of a heart attack at 22.
just looking for a heart healthy routine here i guess, title is misleading
just wanting some suggestions i guess from people who are healthy.. someone can lock this if they want -
Go to a cardiologist

duh
Holy fuck people are retarded these days.
If your chest hurts your first reaction shouldn't to go on a diet so you can lose the 5 lbs overweight that you supposedly are. Your first reaction should be to make an appointment with a cardiologist.
Skinny people have heart problems all the time too, not just fat people. Stop being a moron and go to the doctor before you die. -
this was the kind of response i was looking for.. at least i got one

quit being such a fucking crybaby, its an online forum, heavin forbid someone says something that upsets you...
-
also like bfactor said, see a cardiologist as soon as you can if you really do feel like you're having heart issues.
further diet suggestions: break your meals up into 5-6 different SMALLER meals. this speeds up your metabolism, leads to less chance of you stuffing yourself etc. like your apple could be a snack with a protein shake or something. good snacks like beef jerky (high protein/low fat) are also solid
for chips, baked lays or lays light aren't terrible I don't think. -
SERIOUSLY. GO SEE A CARDIOLOGIST.

If you get chest pains it might not be anything serious but it might be something very serious (but fixable). But if it is something serious but fixable, and you don't get it diagnosed and fixed, it could kill you. You seriously need to go to a cardiologist and have it checked out.
This most likley has nothing to do with you weight.
Like I said, many people who are in great physical shape have major heart problems that need to be fixed. Just like many people who are in great shape can still get cancer or get bad eyesight or whatever. Yes, being fat will increase your chances, but that's beside the point. The point is that YOU HAVE CHEST PAIN. Thus you need a cardiologist to check that out. Really. No joke. Do it. -
no one is upset...we laughed, it made me smile, refer to first post sir
-
If i go through this routine and stuff is still happening with it i am gonna go to the doctor. i know it sounds ignorant, but i really just think its because of the poor choices ive been making

I appreciate responses like this too though of course -
That's actually a really really really really bad idea. You should go ASAP. But it's your life so do what you want I guess

listening to this is like listening to a hot chick complain about how ugly she is.
-
okay as long as you go to a cardiologist...please PLEASE do this. I know you feel like it's your life choices but whatever, first go to a doctor. DO THIS.
even if he gives you a clean bill of health, there's nothing wrong with eating healthier. you can start reshaping your body (those 192 lbs might not be correctly distributed obv) into what you want. -
Yah late January I was about 250lbs. I'm 6'4 and it was pure disgustingness due to a steady diet of fastfood and sitting on my ass.
Beginning of March I got my act together and have been doing 30-60 minutes of gardio 5-6x a week and lifting weights (light weight, high reps) 4-5x a week.
On top of that I totally changed my diet: lots of protein, fruits, veggies. No soda, no fast food and just generally keepin track of my calories.
Working out great I'm down to 220 but still need to lose 25 lbs probably.
GL to you sir. Even tho it sounds like it will be kinda easy to get back into shape since u havent let it get too bad. -
just eliminating fast food and soda pop and exercising is prob all you really need here, imo. gl.
