    Ok, I'm not one, but my sister is and I'm looking to buy a present for her so I'm hoping somebody can point me in the right direction. Apparently different editions were made in the UK than here (with different covers...) and I'm wondering if there's somewhere online I could buy some of them for her for Christmas without having to go all the way to England, especially since I really don't know what I'm looking at anyway. Thanks for any ideas here, I am lost...

    HUGE Harry Potter fan. How old is your sister? I don't really have any ideas for a present (most likely she has the movies), but the authentic books seem like a good idea to me, as I have a whole authentic set that I keep on my bookshelf and will never read. You can get the UK editions in the stores here in Canada (as opposed to the US versions). I am not really sure if the UK editions are also available in the states or not. Not much help but I'll give it some thought.

    She's going to be 16 two days after Christmas...I know she'd like the authentic books because she got mad when mom and dad wouldn't let her to go to London with a friend because that ruined her chance at getting "those real books". I did ask a friend from Scotland if he could find them, but he said they're yet different covers than the ones in England so probably not what she wants...so I guess it's time to regoogle and see if I can find...thanks =)

    looool, i knew my pic would show up here. i don't see the resemblance but whatever. if i had a pic of my little brother i'd post it. he looks a lot more like harry than i do.

    as for the op, i have no idea. maybe try jk rowling's site.

    um, i think only 1 book was "different" (by title) in the UK and that was the first one. it was titled in UK "HP and the Philosopher's Stone" not "Sorcerer's Stone"

    other than that the titles have been the same (i'd bet that the covers on the 1st's are different) and probably even the cover art

    you should really wait until the 7th book comes out to get her anything...such as the 7-book-set all in hardcover...amazon/ebay/etc probably has that for the first 6, but that is pointless.

    but you can always get a 1st Ed. HP and the Philosopher's Stone somewhere online

    i ordered my UK editions online so you can find them there somewhere, im not sure of the .com i got them from but probably either amazon or whatever the others are called.com....

    eBay is your friend. You can find absolutely everything there. If you're new to eBay, make sure to buy from a seller with good feedback. If your sister is also a fan of the movies (I HATE the movies, love the books), this might be a good option --

    Signed movie script.

    I just noticed that that's probably a fake, though, strangely, because it has Richard Harris's signature on it too, and he died before they made the third film! It's listed by a power seller with good feedback, so that's odd. Anyway, there are a million different book options. Just do a little searching.
