Things to do in Gulf Shores, AL

    So a group of friends and I are renting a condo for a week in Gulf Shores and I was looking for some recommendations from those who've been there or are familiar with the area. I'm basically interested in hearing thoughts on good restaurants, bars, beach spots, etc. Thanks in advance!

    I went down there 2 years ago. I can't remember names of restaurants, but get royal red shrimp if you haven't had them. A lot of restaurants have them down there. They taste similar to crab/lobster and serve them with drawn butter. I ate a shit load of them while I was there. We even went to a seafood market, bought five pounds, and cooked them at our condo.

    We were pretty much just beach bums when we were there, but we did go on a dolphin cruise which the kids liked.

    Florabama is a must visit. Looks like a dive but you probably won't leave once you get there.

    florabama is a pretty neat place. pending on where you are staying there's also within walking distance a place called Live Bait and there's a "strip" that has more bars and what not (a hooters is there i remember). i haven't been since i was 21 but vacationed there with the family a few times in high school. most of the condos also have pools, bbqs and close access to the beach, so drinking it up on the grounds is always an option too.

    I havent been to Destin in a couple of years but there is definately a Louisiana Lagnaippe there, which imo is the best restaurant in both Destin and Orange Beach/Gulf Shores. Harbor Docks is a good place for sushi and boozing. Boathouse Oyster Bar is cool little place with emphasis on "little" for oysters and beer.

    As for bitches/boozes/debauchery, the last time I went to Destin and wasnt married was 5+ years ago. Other than AJ's, someone else is gonna have to help you out here.

    thanks for the suggestions guys, I'll make sure to check out some of the places mentioned, especially Florabama.

    Also, bump for anyone else who's been there and can suggest anything. I leave in a few days so I'd like to get as many opinions as possible.

    The only other suggestion I have is go to the Naval Museum in Pensacola if your into that kind of thing. You might catch the Blue Angels doing practice runs.
