Really, who decides half way through the season that they are going to retire and announces it?
That's right, people who are past their prime and who should be at the end of their careers.
Tiki is neither here nor there.
I don't think he deserves to be in the HOF at this point if he does retire after this year. Do you? -

I saw an interview on ESPN.COM with him talking about his alleged retirement. He basically said he has been sayiong this for years, and had other things he wanted to do with his life. He does not care about the HOF appearantly, and wants to leave on his own terms. He claims the story came out when a reporter was following him and Ronde around covering their childrens book publication, and he overheard him talking to his agent about his future plans.

Dumb Walrus response: Um last I checked 6 games was not "halfway" through the season. Try again.
bmclaughlin response: He wants an early sign up to Dancing With the stars obv.
mhoddi response: He fumbled too much early in his career, and only had 4 good seasons. For that, I cannot accept him into Canton. -
No. He would be a LOCK for the HOF if he played 2-3 more seasons. But he hasn't been great for long enough...it took him a long time to get over his fumble problems, be the featured back, and become elite. Now he finally is and he's calling it quits too soon.
edit: well basically what mhoddi said -
Does calling it quits too soon= retiring with lots of $$$, your health, and a very impressive NFL career? You need to understand that being a RB in the NFL is the equivalent to getting in a car crash every week. Very few 12 year NFL vets don't have knee, back, and neck problems. It's a very dangerous sport and I applaud anyone that gets out with their health.

NO CHANCE he is Hall of Famer if he retires now. You have to dominate to make it with a short career. He has has only been great the last couple years. Until then he split carries with Ron Friggin Dayne. Having said that 3 or 4 more years like his last 2 and he is in for sure.

Agreed... No way is he in the hall, as of now. He's a freaking two time pro-bowler. That's like saying three time allstar pitcher Pat Hentgen should be a HOFer.
-
millionaire with his health > hall of famer with bad knees and a bad back?
-
scary how he's probably a better tv personality then a football player, and he's a damn good football player (although not a HOF)
