  1. Hi!

I'm moving to Phoenix shortly and I'm making the drive with a friend of mine starting in Mass. It's gonna take us 3.5 days to get there with three different stops. Anyone who's done a cross country tip before have any tips or anything? Hugs and handjobs
  2. meth
  3. I haven't seen you around in forever, then I checked fb and noticed you must have deleted me. Oh well, I dropped you on twitter because your rants get old after a while.

What the hell kind of advice are you looking for? Not sure I understand.
  4. In 96 I drove from MA to Aspen, CO with a friend. I really enjoyed the drive. The only problem is I think we drove through PA, OH, IN, IL, MO, KS. You'll realize how shitty most of these states are and won't really feel like stopping other than gas or food. Just look at a map and try to plan out some spots to check out on your route.
  5. I thought you died.

I'm looking for any advice. It's a 2700 mile trip and I've never been behind the wheel for more than a six-hour trip. And sorry about Facebook. I'm sure you'll get over it.

  7. I'm making the same drive this weekend, the only thing I have down as a must do is to get a green chile burger somewhere in New Mexico. Maybe some other suggestions will pop up in this thread, safe travels

You could have included these important details in the OP.

    I'm rusty.

Should I have AAA send me a bunch of their travel stuff? Are they helpful?

  13. bat country... Don't stop there

  14. Watch this movie before you go. Then you will know what you are forgetting.

  15. I've drivin' across country 3 times now. I would recommend bringing a cooler for drinks and food. Buy them before you leave. I dislike stopping for drinks and snacks on the road. Also... I make meals at home before I go and put in the cooler...because I don't eat fast food...or restaurant food.

do some research of your route ...and make some plans of places for a quick stop and/or something to see. Don't waste the opportunity of being in certain towns and cities....you never know if you will ever be there again.

Of coarse...lots of MUSIC! ... a friend made a fantastic mix playlist last time ... driving music.

Have fun! ... and no stress.
  16. I am the Austin, TX to St. John's, Newfoundland, Canada, and back to north Cal from Newfieland driver. Did it alone, and i put in 1k miles a day. Its gonna be brutal on your neck the most it seems. get something to stuff behind your head rest for then but sounds like you got an extra driver so that will help too. I always do the cooler plan too with lots of water, I don't drink all this water because I hate stopping if I have to pee, so try to wait till i have to gas up, but i pack it just in case something bad happens and i get sorta stranded. I suggest red vines and beef jerky for later at night since it seems to help stay awake when you're chewing on that shit. music is key too cuz if you're gonna hit I-10 at all, its pretty damn boring. (but you get to drive fast!).

I never planned my trip because I was always in a hurry to where I was going and because I didn't want to pay money for extra hotels. I guess if you have no time limit on it and can afford a couple extra days, make a stop somewhere. But again I am weird and like to set some sick ass record times for long distance driving lol.

Obligatory route. I guess we start in rocklin, ca, to austin, then about 4 years later take of to the canada's, drive back to austin, drop shit off, move onto norcal, stay for 2 months, back to austin, 2 months later back to cali where i sit now lol

C to B is about 1800 miles, little more, have done it in 21 hours but make it a two day drive with a stop in tucson. b to a is about 3300 miles, which i stop in nashville, and then maine, then make it to north sydney, NB to catch the ferry (hundred mile ferry ride takes about 5-8 hours, depending on day or night, i've always been on the night crossing) and then pull that last bit to the end of the continent. and rinse and repeat.

oh and i still drive the same car that has done this :) (had this car for almost 13 years lolz)

    green chili burgers are amazing
  24. Stop for BBQ in every major city after Kentucky and stop at Dallas. The stop for mexican the rest of the way.
  25. If you smoke weed, apparently you should avoid Oklahoma.

OK - let me add a few more tips.

    - Make sure you have sunscreen on the arm hanging out of the window. I drove most of the way from CT to Atlanta during warm weather and my left arm was burned crisp.

    - I say you make stops along the way to meet some OT'ers. Post your planned route and see if you can meet up with various OT'ers along the way (even if just for a handshake and a pic).

    - If you have a laptop, get a charger and an air card. Nothing like playing games online while in the passenger seat.

  26. Step 1) crash into a median
Step 2) lose your P5s password if you arrive in Phoenix after completing step 1
  27. we've done the drive from michigan to san diego. one thing thing that we did when deciding where to stop for the night was to look for a college / university (they're usually marked on a map). that usually meant there were hotel options, restaurants and bars and people around. you will definitely see that there's a whole lotta nothing to the U.S. pending on the route you take...
  28. also: piss jugs... its the way of the road.
  29. I drove from Los Angeles to through Arizona, NM, Oklahoma, Texas and back once with a friend. We mapped out every Hooters on the way and hit them all up for the most part. They rank as following in terms of talent (California not included):
    1. Dallas
    2. Austin
    3. Tuscon
    4. Phoenix
    5. OK City
    6. Albuquerque
    7. El Paso
  30. what ever happened to OP? he used to be all over OT
