The KC Chiefs have fired HC Todd Haley this morning. This had to happen IMO. Just don't get how you can consistently play Tyler Palko after how bad he has looked.
-
<--------------dumping ground?
Mort reporting -
Good. Now I can root for the Chiefs again. I never liked that guy thought he was a horrible coach.
-
This is great news
-
who do you want them to play at qb?
-
Lol, AFC West might end up with 3 new head coaches.
I was hoping the injuries would be an excuse and they would keep him for another year. Chiefs are building a good roster, Haley was turrible. -
Now maybe we can hire someone that has at least one season of experience as a head coach.
He'll make a fine receiver's coach at a division II school. -
I guess Josh McDaniels it is...

While Haley did make some mistakes, I don't think he was terrible. Chiefs came into the season with one of the toughest schedules. Losing your best offensive and best defensive players isn't something to easily bounce back from, and I will admit, the Chiefs have won more than I thought they would given their situation. Sucks to be Haley. -
Back to the Cards as OC one time?
-
As soon as the Chiefs gave up 81 penalty yards on 1 Jets drive yesterday (incl. a 15 yard unsportsman penalty against the "Chiefs coaching staff"), I knew there was no way Haley would still have a job today. I can't remember the last time I saw a team quit during a game quite like I saw yesterday. Had to happen.

I know I'm in the overwhelming minority amongst Chiefs fans, but I think this was an AWFUL AWFUL firing. He took over a team that won 7 games in 3 years, and won the division in year 2. 2009 can in large part be explained by new everything, an awful draft class by Pioli, and him getting guys like Bowe and DJ to stop being primadonnas and start being football players- look at them now. In year 2, we win the fucking division! This year- lets see we lose our starting QB, starting TE (and 2nd leading receiver), and our best offensive and defensive player. Not only that, but the depth that we have to replace all 4 is lolololol bad. Yes I hate that Palko was trotted out there instead of giving Stanzi a chance, but you can't put this year on Haley. Now if it comes out that this was done because of some internal issues, i.e. the players hated him and were on the verge of mutiny then i'll understand, but otherwise, we better fucking have a big name lined up, and we 100% better retain Romeo.

Nah, he was only the OC for the Pats when they set the season scoring record, the next season coached Matt Cassel to an 11-5 season, spent a year studying a bible on coaching personally written by Bill Belichick for him, and discussing every aspect of it over and over with BB himself.
He then was given control of an organization, showed guts by trusting his judgement when he knew the linear thinkers that make up most fan bases and management would have a feast, and went ahead and declared by his actions that Tim Tebow and Demaryius Thomas were worthy early picks while everyone laughed, and determined Peyton Hillis was on borrowed time as a useful RB and got rid of him. But what would he know about judging NFL talent? Binary Jimmy in DesMoines thinks he's an idiot.
The team that gave the reigns to a 32 year old to start from scratch then decided that less than 2 seasons was enough time, and that 11-17 was proof that he couldn't possibly be the long term answer.
He's now the OC at a team with a sophomore slump QB that isn't even healthy, weak WRs, and a RB that is a shell of his old self due to wear and tear. Binary Jimmy in DesMoines thumps his chest and says 'see? told you so'. -
I thought he was a good coach as far as xs and os or whatever but just didn't have the right demeanor/ seemed like a huge douchebag. Glad he got shitcanned
Mcdaniels is a boss... Agreed Kelly, can't wait til he gets another job. -
I wasn't saying that as a negative thing...more of a prediction so I could come back in this bitch and do a dolphin impersonation, while you guys throw rose pedals as walk.

Yeah wasn't directing it at you - just a big McDaniels guy. Would have loved to see what he was gonna come up with for Tebow.
-
LOOOOOOOOOOOOOL - the day he has to throw an NFL pass is the day his agent can start calling CFL GMs
-
I think Haley falls into the 'good coordinator, bad HC' category. I agree with Marc that the timing of this firing is curious, there has to be more to the story. If he got fired for internal reasons, I understand, but you can't fire him for the Chiefs performance this season too many crippling injuries.
-
he did a good job but i think everyone hated him and that was his ultimate demise
-
I think Haley deserved at least one more year. omg we played bad . . . someone has to payy!!!!
-
something else was up, my bro told me he heard rumors at the beginning of the year haley was on the hot seat. i was like wtf after last year? he's like yea somethings up.
not sure the reason, but after his firing clearly something internally was going on.
hope romeo stays. -
This.

Now espn says mcdaniels is in play! If i was a fan i would start a protest nowwwwwww at the stadium with anti mcdouche signs and a burning jersey or two. If a car needs burning so be it. You gotta do what you gotta do beforeeeee a hiring happens. Why are you still reading this? Go go go gooooo! -
He was definitely out at the end of the year, but I'm not sure how I feel about the firing with 3 games left.
But please science, not McDaniels. -

significantly outperform teams talent level --> get fired, crazy world -
I'm glad he is gone, he is a hot head and doesn't have respect from his team.
He has blown up on the side lines with chiefs as a head coach and last year with the cardinals, you have to be able to keep your cool. -

There is simply zero reasoning for getting multiple pass interference penalties in the endzone and never giving Steven Jackson a carry from the 1 yard line. And it's not like tonight is anywhere close to the first time this type of thing has happened.
Have they had injuries?? Sure they have...has he tried to adjust around those injuries and simplify the gameplan to get their best player (and only offensive weapon at times before Lloyd got there) the ball? Absolutely not.
Maybe Dallas needs an OC...please take him. He's a fucking joke. The Rams were tired of having OC's who tried to outwit themselves when Martz was sent packing. Just call a decent game and don't be a fuckbag...that's all I ask.
