    Anyone ever live there or have recommendations for moving there? I am moving there in January and looked around the are today. I went to look at a few condos in downtown toledo and thought I was going to get shot. I am looking for either a condo or apt. Any advice would be appreciated

    I've lived here for about 15 years, wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

    Several friends live there... much like the rest of Ohio, it doesn't have anything going for it.

    If u like the seasons and totally unreliable weather people.... its great

    The city has really gone downhill the last 5 or so years. Been a big increase in crime and very few jobs. If you really want to move to the area look at the burbs. Sylvania, Maumee and Perrysburg are better. Definately don't live in downtown Toledo.

    Lived in the area for about 20 years, and I'm currently looking to get out.

    Hopefully you are moving here because of your job, because the job market sucks here. I live right on the border of Oregon OH and East Toledo. East Toledo is probably the worst area in Toledo (imo. but not nearly as bad as other cities like Detroit obv), and the difference you see from driving 2 minutes out of Oregon to East Toledo is pretty lol.

    100% agree with sonieme, move to a suburb if possible. Like wandigo said, I wouldn't recommend Toledo to anyone.

    downtown and Toledo in general is not a great place to live if you have a choice. I would recommend nearby Perrysburg for a much better scene.

    I lived in Columbus for about a year back in 1999 and it made me appreciate where I am from(Northeast) so much more. I met some nice people and stuff but it was just so dirty and the water stunk. I lived on campus at OSU so maybe that had a lot to do with it but I would not recommend Ohio to anyone from my experience.

    Michigan and and Ohio once fought a "war" (no shots fired) over the rights to Toledo. Congress declared Michigan the winner and awarded Toledo to Ohio.... or something like that. Best thing about Toledo is you're only about an hour from the Joe and an hour from Cedar Point.

    i was in dtown toledo once and was more scared than being in the middle of east cleveland... obv i don't have as good of word as someone who lives in toledo but i wouldnt recommend it regardless

    I lived in Toledo for two years. HANDS DOWN the biggest dump of a city (in an already pretty dumpy state). However, at least you can say that you dont live in Detroit.

    I lived in the Commodore Perry building, which is on the corner of Monroe and Jefferson in downtown. I had a 14th floor window that overlooked 5/3 Field, which was very cool. Free baseball and fireworks all summer long.

    I disagree with those who say downtown Toledo is unsafe. It is perfectly safe, literally nobody is down there EVER. I used to run alone at night along the river, I used to walk to the bars around the baseball field, and I would walk to and from work at weird hours at the OI building and literally nothing ever happened. Check the Blade for the crime reports, you need to stay away from East Toledo, and anything west of the art museum until you get to the mall area. But yeah, little crime happens in actual downtown.

    Best of luck to you. ONe of the happiest days of my life is when I moved out of Toledo... you will shortly come to find the same thing.

    Well it is for a job and I am also going to UT for my MBA so I will be there for about two years. I am coming from Ann Arbor so am not to far from Detroit. Guess it could get worse. Anyway, back to business. Any apartment advice ?

    i'm honestly in the same position as you, gotta move out there in january for a job once i graduate from MSU. http://www.city-data.com/forum/toledo/ has people talking about different living situations, i have no idea what to expect with people saying that it's worse than detroit or nothing happens. fun fact tho, detroit was recently named the 4th most dangerous city in america.

    Cool story and such. lol @ comparing the present state of Columbus with year 1999. Superb comparison. Might as well compare Compton Cali between now and 1990 while you are at it.

    Not defending Ohio. The weather here is definitely Top Top tho..lol
