I'm no Vikings fan, but this would go a long way in filling the hole vacated by Chester's departure.
A Peterson/Tomlinson backfield could be pretty devastating... If this happens I'd say it's just about a lock that Favre comes back (which I think he'll do regardless).
Childress: Vikings would be clear with L.T. about role
For the first time, the Vikings have publicly discussed LaDainian Tomlinson’s reported visit to Minnesota on Thursday.
Star-Tribune beat reporter Judd Zulgad posted a Tweet on Wednesday from Vikings coach Brad Childress on the fact that Tomlinson joining the team would be as a backup to Adrian Peterson.
“I would think he knows that, but I always want to over-communicate clarity so we won’t hopscotch around that [topic],” Childress said.
Zulgad also reported Wednesday that if an agreement on playing time and money can be reached, Tomlinson could be a Viking soon.
With Chester Taylor and Thomas Jones now off the market, it appears Tomlinson’s value to teams is closely tied to his willingness to take a non-featured role. NFL Network insider Jason La Canfora told fans during a live chat Wednesday morning that Tomlinson should be clear on his market value.
“It’s going to be this type of role no matter where he goes,” La Canfora noted. “If he’s all about being a part of a winner, this is a great spot to be (assuming Favre is back). He could extend his career as a third-down back if he excels. It makes a lot of sense to me.” -
Just to have the best backfield since Sanders/Thomas or what?
Makes no sense imo. -
I think he's faced with a market where not many teams are going to want him as a feature back, so I think his logic is: might as well sign with a team that gives me a good chance at winning a championship.

Didn't LT talk some trash about AP last year saying he wasn't even a third down back cause he can't catch balls out of the backfield?

I was just going to post about this, I am from MN and im fucking jacked for LT baby!

They rushed 467 times last season, 26 attempts a game. How would yopu divy up the carries, cause you know Farve is gonna throw 30 times a game.

Are you suggesting they will sit AP, one of the 4 best RB's in the league right now? Maybe they limit his carries late in a game, but no way they are going to bench him. So if they rush the same number of times, then AP gets 16 carries a game when his contract is 40 million over 5 years? Just doesnt make sense money wise. -
Childress did last year? Taylor only had 94 carries in 16 games. I just cant see them changing anything, especially since i think LT isnt a huge upgrade over Taylor.

Of course this is just my opinion. -
LT's stats have declined for the last 6 years i think. hes prime to be AP backup/3rd d guy.
