In my opinion, these are the top 10 albums produced in my lifetime. I like most kinds of music but have a strong preference for Punk/Rock/Indie/Emo type music over others. Also, many of these stir specific memories for me throughout my life that I associate with listening to it, which is probably a major factor in going from a great album, to my favortie ablums. So without further adieu:
11.) Green Day- American Idiot
Ok, I didn't want to put the same group on here twice, but this CD was so different from Dookie. The CD and tracks speak for themselves as well as all the awards and allcolades it received. Like a few others on my list, this CD has so many different sounding tracks. Boulevard of Broken Dreams, Give me Novicaine, Wake me Up when September Ends are all slow and melodic, whereas Jesus of Suburbia, Holiday and St. Jimmy are hard and upbeat.
10.) All-American Rejects- Move Along
I realize I like this CD more than most people, but hey- its my damn list. I got this cd and listened to it on the way to/from my first cruise which is probably a big reason I like it so much. It has so many good tracks that put me in a good mood and give me energy. My favorite songs are "Top of the World" ," Night Drive" and some of the popular ones "dirty little secret" and "move along." I liked their first CD a lot, but I love this one! Again I cannot help listen to it and associate it with me laying on a beach, a drink in hand, staring at clear blue water w/o a care in the world.

9.) Coldplay- A Rush of Blood to My Head
I didn't instantly like Coldplay like many people did. They slowly grew on me and I really love many tracks on this CD. It's just a good mellow cd that I can listen to when I want to relax. Clocks, Green Eyes, Warning Sign, God Put a Smile on My Face are some of my favorites.
8.) Sublime- 40 oz to Freedom
Damn, How did I miss this one? I listen to it primarily in the summer, which is my excuse I guess, but I love this CD. Many great tracks and ty for bringing an obvious mistake to my attention.
7.) Blink 182- Enema of the State
The timing of this CD pushed into the top 10. This CD came out while I was in high school during the summer before my senior year of high school. The CD was overplayed SO much that entire year by my friends and me and inspired several senior year antics (including running through our high school and various places around town in our underwear).

6.) Dr. Dre- 2001 (sorry I like it better than the original chronic)
I am not as big of a rap fan as many other people out their, but I love this CD. There are so many good songs on here it's unbelievable. It catapulted the career of Snoop and Eminem and really legitimized Dr. Dre and turned him and his label into the money machine it has become. My favorites are: Still D.R.E., What's The Difference, Forgot about Dre and The Next Episode.

5.) Nirvana- Nevermind
This CD changed the music scene in the 90s. Grungy, Dark and Depressing. Nirvana became such a sensation until Kurt Cobain ended his own life. I loved this CD and the follow up CDs that made them so popular. My favorites were- In Bloom, Come as you Are, Polly, Lithium and Smells Like Teen Spirit.

4.) Green Day- Dookie
This was the 2nd CD I ever bought. It put Green Day on the map and made me start giving a damn about music. Longview, Basket Case, Welcome to Paradise when I come around are all amazing songs. Their newest CD is also very amazing in a completely different way.

3.) Linkin Park- Hybrid Theory
Never before had I heard a CD that had so many different sounding tracks that I thought were amazing in their own right. The CD was so good they were able to remix it into at least 2 other CDs (jay-z and reanimation). A good mix of rap and rock with some beats that just sound amazing.

2.) Red Hot Chili Peppers- Blood Sugar Sex Majik
If i had to choose one of theirs it would be "Blood Sugar Sex Majik". Under the Bridge, Soul to Squeeze, Give it Away, and suck my kiss are just a few of the tracks that stand out to me.

1.) Weezer- Blue Album

This is the first CD I ever bought and I can still listen to it start to finish and enjoy it through and through. Buddy Holly and The Sweater Song were the 2 most popular tracks, although I liked "In the Garage" and "My Name is Jonas" just as much. As a kid growing up in Southern California, this CD made me want to be at the beach every time I played it. I really love their new CD too, but this one takes the cake.
Honorable Mentions:
Kanye West- College Dropout
Foo Fighters- There is Nothing Left to Lose
Yellowcard- Ocean Avenue

Jack Johnson- Brushfire Fairytales
Death Cab for Cutie- Transatlanticism
gorillaz- gorillaz
beasite boys- license to ill

What'd I miss and Flame away..............
EDITED: Added Sublime- 40oz to Freedom- oversight. The rest stays b/c its my list and thats my taste and I'm sure 2 people couldn't agree on the same Top 10.

i like it....not a pearljam fan though? nelly, country grammar (stl bias)
and for the record...say it aint so was the best weezer song on the blue album -
i thought about nelly and it just missed the list...i really liked the cd.
as for pearl jam. There song "jeremy spoken" ticked me off b/c my name is jeremy and it was about a kid that shot himself. Pbv I had to hear a lot of shit when that song was popular but still like them and that song.
and yes, say it ain't so is an awesome song. It should have been listed but without playing the cd right now, its hard to remember which ones i liked the most, since they are all good. -
blue album is one of the few cd's i can listen to from beginning to end
-
good question.....honest answer....i haven't given that CD enough of a listen. I fully expect MANY people to include that on their list, but like i stated in the intro, the association I have with the CDs is what put them from Great to my favorites. (now I am going to have to listen to that CD for the first time in a long while and reconsider)
-
It would probably be my number one (or close to it), that's why I was surprised to see it not included in your list. Especially considering the music genres you specified. But other than that I like it.
-
as far as good songs go, this one is way up there...i honestly never could listen to radiohead enough to enjoy a whole cd they put out

I think Kid Rock (Devil Without a Cause) is one of my top ten favorite albums
Green Day Dookie is obv #1, also the first CD I had ever owned as it was given to me for Christmas -
My favorite 10, and these are not, in my opinion, the best albums in my time. Just my personal favorites.

9) Bad Religion - Suffer
8) Sublime - 40oz To Freedom
7) Weezer - Blue Album
6) Green Day - Dookie
5) 311 - Grassroots
4) 311 - Music
3) Pearl Jam - Ten
2) Pennywise - Full Circle
1) Nirvana - Nevermind -

-

-
Good list, except it is "Enema of the State" and Sublime self titled is awesome.

I was thinking about it, we'll have to see once
Taking a break from drinking, I've been sober for 3 weeks now. The longest I have gone since I started drinking at 16. Getting a DUI really changes perspective on things -
some i think you missed (in no order)
Deftones (Around the Fur) - I think this cd sparked the nu-metal era. Be Quiet and Drive + My Own Summer catapulted their career.
Eminem (Marshal Mathers LP) - Really solidified Eminem's career.
Incubus (Make Yourself) - Diverse cd with catchy singles (Drive, Pardon Me), harder edged songs, and funky riffs.
The Offspring (Americana/Smash) - I couldn't decide on either of them. Both I think were important to the pop-punk era. Both have incredibly catchy songs/riffs (Self Esteem, Pretty Fly, etc)
Rage Against The Machine (Self Titled) - First group to really mix politics, harder edged music with rap verses. Set the stage for most of the 90's hard edged bands. -
I agree with Eminem and Incubus. Eminem does flat out own and is a lyrical genius....
Incubus is obv underrated -
Holy fuckballs, how did I forget Rage. My bad bigtime. Also, Make Yourself by Incubus is one of my favorites, but not top 10. Probably like 12ish.
-
personally SCIENCE was 10x better than Make Yourself but no main stream rock fan even knows about that album
-
Sir, if u put Coldplay and Lincoln Park on your top ten list of albums from any era, U have many severe problems u may need to check into...
-
variety is the spice of life bro..and its linkin park fwiw
-
In no particular order...10) Counting Crows - films about ghosts 9)Dispatch - All points bulletin 8)Gorillaz-gorillaz 7)Jack Johnson - brushfire fairytales 6)Jamie Cullum - twentysomething 5)Coheed and Cambria - Second stage of the turbine blade 4)Modest Mouse - good news for people who love bad news 3)Wallflowers - Bringing down the horse 2)Cake - Fashion Nugget 1)DMB - Listener Supported
-
Others worthy of mention (that I haven't seen so far):
Outkast - Speakerboxx/The Love Below
Franz Ferdinand (self-titled)
Pearl Jam - Vs.
Slipknot - Vol. 3, The Subliminal Verses (might be alone on this)
Soundgarden - Superunknown
The Decembrists - Picaresque
The Shins - Chutes Too Narrow
Tool - Undertow -
Love SCIENCE (Summer Romance, Glass, Certain Shade of Green sooo good) but Make Yourself is their best album IMO.
