Inspired by the worst band ever thread, and definitely as original as a favorite beer thread. What are your top 5 favorite songs ever? Which songs take you back to another time, make the hair on the back of your neck stand up, etc.
1. Pink Floyd - wish you were here - easily my favorite of all time... probably since I was about 9 years old.
2. Metallica - One. I still remember the first time I heard it... 5th grade... so heavy, layered, peaceful, chaotic, melodic... a perfect song.
3. Jimmy Hendrix/SRV cover - Little Wing Jimmy's version has to get credit here, but Stevie Ray Vaughn took the song to another level... it didn't need lyrics.
4. Bruce Springsteen - Born to Run... another one that stuck to me from early childhood.
5. Sublime - What I got. This song defined a period in my life that has been over for awhile.. but it brings back all the great memories. -
Duane Allman/Boz Skaggs - Loan me a dime
-
those arent even the top 5 songs from each of those bands let alone top 5 songs

No, Little Wing is one of my top 5 fav songs as done by SRV... giving credit to Hendrix as mentioned.
LoL at responses like "Those aren't even the top songs from those bands"... Well, that's your opinion man, I wasn't looking for a consensus.

lol at ripping on other ppls choices with Rush in your list

There's a difference between favorite and best. I'd never argue that my favorite song was one of the 100 best songs ever written or anything, I just happen to like it a lot. So if someone wants to like Beautiful Day or anything else for that matter, that's cool...as long as they don't try to make me like it. I hate U2...I lived with an annoying roommate that made me listen to them all the time. But it's better than when I lived with Pope and he made me listen to System of a Down all the fucking time.
My favorite songs:
1. The Ataris - I Remember You
2. The Eagles - Last Resort
3. Led Zeppelin - Stairway to Heaven
4. Muse - Newborn
5. The Eagles - Hotel California
I just realized that my two favorite bands (the Cure and Ben Folds) probably don't have a single song in my top 20. -
LOL props to the sandstorm shoutout Jack
-
1. Voodo Chile' - This seems so obvious to me. No other song is even close.
2. - 5. Some other good songs, probably by Hendrix, SRV, pre-Black Album Metallica, Allman Brothers, or Warren Zevon (probably Lawyers, Guns, and Money). -
1. Kashmir - Led Zeppelin
2. Blue Colar Man / Long Nights - Styx
3. Lose Yourself - Eminem
4. Land of Confusion - Disturbed
5. Princes of the Universe - Queen
