It's a sad case for sure. There is a gang problem and it's not just in Toronto. This is the second shooting since Thursday when they found an 18 yr old in a caddy with a cap in his head.
The problem in this case is this guy had no problem just pulling out a gun and firing randomly into a crowd of people.
Not sure if the guy who died was his target. I haven't read this mornings paper yet.
I am sure if Canadians were allowed to pack some heat this guy would have not gotten away. -
Pretty sure you are wrong, there. Handguns have a very short range for accuracy. Combine that with the fact this dude probably pulled a Usain Bolt either while he was shooting or shortly after, and I doubt bystanders pulling their pieces does anything more than add to the body count. This was probably just a stupid reaction to getting "dissed". Fucking clowns should be set adrift on an ice floe up in the high Arctic.

Agree with this completely. I see no way randoms pulling out guns in that chaos would have done anything but cause more injuries/deaths to innocent bystanders.

We have very minimal murder rates tho
Edited By: Popperhead Jun 3rd, 2012 at 09:34 PM
For comparisons to various cities in North America, in 2007 for example, the homicide rate for the city of Toronto was 3.3 per 100,000 people, yet for Detroit (33.8), Atlanta (19.7), Chicago (15.5), San Francisco (13.6), Boston (10.3) and New York City (6.3) it was higher, while it was only marginally lower in Vancouver (3.1), San Jose (2.9) and Montreal (2.6). Toronto's robbery rate also ranks low, with 207.1 robberies per 100,000 people, compared to Detroit (675.1), Chicago (588.6), Los Angeles (348.5), Vancouver (266.2), New York City (265.9), Montreal (235.3) and San Diego (158.8)
There was a drop in murders again in 2008 with 70. The falling totals continued, in 2009 with 63; in 2010, there were 60 murders, followed by only 46 (75 total in the GTA) in 2011,(Over 6 million people within that zone) the lowest homicide total since 1986 representing a further dramatic decline in the city's murder rate for the fourth consecutive year. -
Those numbers are impressive but imagine if you had more guns to combat criminals, the numbers would be even lower!!

No no, it's proof that they need to be stronger! That way he couldnt have bought that gun at the store and say, wait a minute...
Didnt tge update say shooter was black (that may have been the other shooting that day)? So this wasnt a Random shooting spree it was just a public murder attempt? Pfffft zzzzzzz mehhhhhh -

Suspect is black. Two rival gangs arranged to meet at the Eaton Centre.

And you can just open fire in a mob of people you don't know! -
Your posts contradict each other. There was cameras or there wasn't?

Suspect surrendered at 3am to Toronto Police 52 Division which is downtown . There was another shooting at Alexander park a day or 2 before that he was involved in.
This guy was released from prison after doing a 5 yr bit for yet another shooting in 2005 ( Year of the gun) in Toronto.
I take it that the guy he shot dead had something to do with him going down.
What a fucking idiot. Maybe kick the shit out of the guy when you catch up to him. Now he's looking at 25. -
f off, i think a place with less witnesses and security cameras would make sense. Unless the guy was wanted to go to jail

What the most fucked up thing about the shooter is up until 2 weeks ago he was working with an after school program with kids under 16. Not exactly the Role Model you wanna send your kids to get life advice from plus he has a prior sexuall harrasment charge
