Most respected HIV Foundation I know (and only one for that matter) is the Magic Johnson Foundation.

Regarding cancer research foundations, I think we should check in w/ Tow's family first and see if they have a preference. Most logical selection imo would be to donate to a foundation that does research on the type of cancer Towman had. If I recall correctly, it was a form of lung cancer, but I could be wrong.

Anyways, that's my 2 cents. I'd like to see what others suggest. Also, as OP noted, it's pretty awesome of OT to have come together to do this. I'm sure Towman would've appreciated it.

Ok, I have ordered the flowers. They will be there 2pm at the Valley Brook Baptist Church tomorrow. On the card I just put, "To Towman, from the OT poker community"
I also asked her to take a pic tomorrow of the arrangement and e-mail it to me so I can post it here. Delivery was free she said. Tomorrow I will give another updated count of donations and we can do the 50/50 split to HIV and Cancer research/charities in his name. I think I have about $330-350 in donations so far.

I'd rather not keep getting random donations days apart....I paid the flowers on my CC and withdrew the $ to pay myself back....and the remaining money I will wait 2-3 days and donate to charities. I will obv show receipts and what not for everyone.

May I suggest you close it off at, say, midnight Saturday? That gives late arrivals a chance to contribute to an "OT tribute" for one more day, and stops the random donations in fairly short order. As for receipts, a picture of the flowers is all I need. I trust you on the charitable donation. As stated, Towman may not have won his fight, but at least he gets to help someone else down the road through those of us here in the ether.

I asked the lady to take pic of flowers for us at the wake/funeral. The one I ordered they were out of but she said were getting a better one. Charged $214 to my cc so well have about $150-160 left over for charity.
