If there is a question of infidelity.........Call the repair shop and ask if they have a mini van there waiting to be worked on

There are thousands of shops across the country that can do a rebuild in a day. If it's that bad they can get a junkyard trans and rebuild it in a day. She's probably dealing with some local "complete service" shop that pulls the trans out, ships it to the real professionals to fix, then puts it back in.
I think they're just dragging things out. Tell her to look for a Transmission Repair shop. Then call them. Worse case scenario is a tow to new shop. -
Sorry man, I don't think she's coming back.

ul, looks like she found someone down there that really gets her engine going. take this opportunity to get yourself some strange as well.

Something definitely isn't right with this. First of all, repair shops know damn well most people aren't going to leave their vehicle at a shop if they know it's not even going to be touched for several days. If that's what's happening, then they should have talked with you directly (because repair shops also know the husband is the one who calls the shots on any major car repair) and let you decide when it first rolled on to their lot what you wanted to do.

I'd raise some hell, but I'm a fucking hot-head just waiting for the slightest trigger to go off, so take this for what it's worth.
