I just hope they can get hookers, blow and beer down to these poor guys. That's a long time to wait for a rescue.

I would lose my shit if I were them.

Reason: iron maiden
2. The miners had earlier urged every effort be made to free them by Independence Day.

guy's should just have their families DVR it for them
4. They need to send them the game Torchlight and a PC, I might as well have been living in a mineshaft while I was addicted to that game.

5. Those guys not losing it mentally is the biggest challenge of all.
6. pretty crazy how they have them on a NASA regiment that is given to Astronauts in the Space Station etc....sounds like they are going to be down there a while. i wonder what the hold up is, it must be figuring out how to get down to the spot they are in w/o ruining the integrity of w/e is above them.....ftr the space they are in is like 1 mile area

I've been following this story (old), and read the shelter they are in is the size of a living room.

8. Wonder what they used for bait. I have found that video games and free alcohol work quite well for trapping minors.
9. 600 meter long extension cord and laptops with 600 meter long extension Ethernet cable. Give them money on pokersites load there itunes accounts up.

well your wrong brah

http://www.aolnews.com/world/article/chilean-miners-told-rescue-may-not-come-until-christmas/19608756?icid=main|main|dl1|sec1_lnk3|166202

"The health minister said it was important that the men were stimulated every day, and not left to dwell on their grim situation. "The space they're in actually has about two kilometers [1.24 miles] of galleries to walk around in"

12. yea, sounds like they can walk around outside the shelter or something:

from 2 days ago: http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2010/...n6800320.shtml
"These thirty three men reportedly can move around a bit outside of the refuge chamber, a room that's about 500-square feet, or the size of a small studio apartment, reportsCBS News correspondent Seth Doane. It's built to hold 35 people, has ventilation shafts, and before they were discovered - just a couple of days' worth of emergency food and water.

But some familiar with the conditions suggest that it could be worse than any other confined space you might imagine, be it a prison, a submarine, or even a spaceship. Add to that the darkness, the soaring heat and humidity. "

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/38807555...news-americas/

"The shelter, a living-room-sized chamber off one of the mine's lower passages that is easily big enough for all 33 men, is far enough from the landslide to remain intact, and the men can also walk around below where the rocks fell. Actual food will be sent down in several days, after the men's stomachs have had time to adjust, said Paola Neuman of the medical rescue service."

http://www.aolnews.com/world/article...iners/19605494
"Rescuers have also succeeded in punching a second borehole into the miners' living room-sized chamber, and a third drill is nearing the shelter, Mining Minister Laurence Golborne told reporters. The shaft that reached the miners Sunday -- triggering nationwide celebrations -- will continue to be used to lower supplies, the second will be for communication and the third for ventilation, Golborne said."

13. good god, they are living in probably the worst possible place, for an unknown period of time....as someone said above what a challenge just to keep your mind in order....just terrible circumstances, nice newsclips Waco

14. apparently they havent yet told the miners how long theyll be down there, i would want to know.
15. It doesn't sound so bad. They can play a ton of games while they are hanging out. Hide and seek, duck duck goose, spin the bottle. I don't get how any married guy with kids wouldn't want to spend a few months trapped in a mine.

16. How long til they start getting gay?.

..my money is on 34 days 4.5 hours.
17. wonder if they have a jerkoff station yet? Im sure theres some slimey lube they can find down there

18. gotta be hard to get it up in those circumstances lol...maybe they can put some dirty mags down the tube

19. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100827/..._mine_collapse

"What the men may not know is that the mining company that hired them is doing nothing to join them in a rescue. The San Esteban company says it can't afford to pay their wages and may go bankrupt.
San Esteban is in such bad shape that it has neither the equipment nor the money to rescue the men; Chile's state-owned mining company is going to drill the escape tunnel, which will cost about $1.7 million."

How do you operate a gold mine and not have $1.7 mil?
20. andy dufresne tunneled out with a rockhammer and the entire country of Chile can't find a way to dig these guys out?

i honestly don't understand how it's taken this long and is expected to take another couple months. it's 2010, figure it out
21. this was planned. insurance payoff. the miners were not supposed to be alive, let alone able to communicate with the outside world. probably have life insurance on all the miners as well in the company name.

I imagine they aren't mining enough gold to cover operating expenses.

23. was just gonna ask how much these guys are getting paid while they are down there. that's a lot of overtime!

hope they make it out alright

now they have kinda told them. they told them at least a month and hopefully before christmas.

25. wait, why the hell is Obama running a rescue operation in Chile??
26. bush did it
27. When i first heard I was trying to think of some scenario where it would take months and months to free them. When I think of mine collapse i think this:

<a href="http://s147.photobucket.com/albums/r288/ozzhead420/?action=view¤t=minors.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r288/ozzhead420/minors.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

so you get some shovels and some dynamite & you have those fuckers home by dinner like Sylvester stallone in that cheesy movie.
Clearly I know nothing about mining but even if its more like this:

<a href="http://s147.photobucket.com/albums/r288/ozzhead420/?action=view¤t=minors2.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r288/ozzhead420/minors2.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

Then dig a 2 foot hole straight down and hoist them one at a time. By now you'd think they'd have something that could do this quickly. I mean if they can dig an oil well 5 miles down in the middle of the ocean in less than 2 months with pipes you could drive a car thru, you would think this would be cake. And I thought all mines had some like safe way out elevator or something.

28. Another thing to worry about - how close are they to the area where the big earthquake was a few months back.

Not even close... but they are supposed to have an escape tunnel. It wasn't built here due to costs and the company is now taking a lot of shit for it.

30. if you have never been in a mine, and i have only been in American mines, the safety rooms are just that.super shored up small rooms with some having air ducts and a few basic supplies,no way out.i don't know what level they are on but obviously, there are no cross cuts or stopes etc. to a way out. with the cave in it would be better to bore a new hole from another level rather than excavate the cave in(if it is that bad as to take until christmas to get to them, through the existing shaft)
