Yeah this is great news. Chael murders Bisping, then he gets the Anderson rematch. They are planning that fight in a soccer stadium in Brazil. If Chael beats Anderson, he won't make it out of the building alive. I think Anderson wins again tho
-
I agree Chael will get lynched when he beats Anderson for the 2nd time.
But I will love every second of both beat downs Chael is going to be giving in the near future. -
I had read that CM Punk was originally supposed to accompany Chael to the cage for this fight before Vince McMahon pulled him back.
Can't wait to hear what Chael says on national TV when he beats Bisping. Have to imagine it will be even better than the last speech. -
Yeah this card just got awesome. As good as Munoz is I <3 me some Chael. Fucking love Sonnen and all the retarded amounts of shit he talks. Also hate Bisping and can't wait to see the dude who beat the shit out of Silva kick his ass good.

Oh I did not hear Punk got pulled... It made a lot sense Chael is the "Roddy Piper" of MMA and Punk is the best worker/talker in WWE.
Sonnan drops a pipe bomb every time he touches the mic, I had wondered if this was a way for him to get a future deal when he is done with MMA. -
the stones on anyone taking this fight on short notice
mark would have had a tuff time in that fight, maybe it was there for bisping maybe it wasn't but Jesus chael had been training for such a better fighter than bisping and i dont hate bisping at all but 'comon man' you are going to get embarrassed -

Also Bisbing was preparing for a 3rounder and now this is 5 rounds. Gl Count lmfao.
Wonder what this line is going to look like. -
bovada.lv line:
7:00p UFC on Fox 2 - United Center in Chicago, Illinois
Middleweight
Both Must Fight For Action.
Chael Sonnen
-450
Michael "The Count" Bisping
+325 -
the fight is only 3 rounds I am pretty sure. Its on the undercard on Fox's Davis/Evans fight.

As i understand correctly title fights are always five rounds (always was that way) and now they added main event PPV cards five rounds. So on Fox this wont be the case and isn't Evans/Davis the main event there anyways? -
Edited By: Mkind16 Jan 18th, 2012 at 01:43 PMYeah my guess is it's 3 rounds since they're trying to fit 3 fights in 1 hour.Originally Posted by Slingtownorbust

There's def a lot of similarities between the 2 since Punk works an MMA style into his wrestling and Sonnen has clearly learned a thing or 2 from watching pro wrestling. The 2 are supposedly good friends.Originally Posted by perma_tilt

This is such a huge opportunity for Sonnen, marketing wise. We've seen that guys who can actually cut promos tend to get a lot more fanfare (see Lesnar). That charisma has major mainstream appeal, which I think Dana White has clearly already recognized by giving Sonnen his own segment on that new UFC news show and putting him on the Fox show. The marketing opportunities that can come from the possible Silva rematch and becoming champion are probably bigger for Sonnen than anyone else for that reason. With Lesnar gone, he could easily be positioned as UFC's new #2 poster boy behind Jones, but he obv has to win this fight on Fox first. -
I get everyone loves the sonnen act by why give him so much credit when hes tested positive so many times before?
-
Landsberg has intereviewed Chael a couple time on OTR - the guy is fucking certifiable lol.

He tested positive ONCE for slightly elevated testosterone levels due to using TRT (Testosterone Replacement Therapy). It's the same drug that Randy Couture and Dan Henderson (who still currently uses) used for the majority of their careers. The difference being they had a corrupt doctor to write them a little note to give to the athletic commission beforehand. I actually think Chael did too, can't quite remember, but some details were off. What they do is they load up on it during camp to get maximum output from training and then taper off of it when it is closer to fight night. I firmly believe that 99% of all fighters do either this or something very similar and just as illegal. To not believe is to be incredibly naive. The list of fighters who've been popped at one time or another for one PED or another is STAGGERING. I honestly believe that only the fighters with the BJ Penn and Fedor type of mentalities aren't juicing the fuck out of themselves as best as they can.Originally Posted by ZachL

So why give him credit? Because he's not doing anything that the beloved Hendo and Randy haven't been doing for years and years. -
I'm actually pretty bummed about Munoz dropping out. Chael is going to own Bisping the entire fight. It would have been much more entertaining to watch Chael in the cage with a decent wrestler.
I think it says a lot about the MW division that Bisping is in line for a title shot after beating just Mayhem,Rivera, and Akiyama. -
Rousimar Palhares is the Champ in waiting . . . book it.
-
I think he'll still be a serious force. He has one of the most deadly combos of absurd strength and great bjj technique that work so well with eachother. It's at the point now where if he has your leg, rogan and co are calling the fight over and 10 seconds later it is.

His striking is improving although still obv his biggest weakness. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that he'd tool maia and possibly even submit him, I think his grappling is that good.
I think Anderson, Vitor, and Chael (if he kept it standing) would beat him easily still. I doubt anyone wants to fight him tho. -
He obv needs work on striking but he is so very dominant with his grappling/submission game it is unreal. I mean, opponents know who they are in there with, so you know their gameplan is:
1) Do NOT let Palhares get hold of my leg.
2) Use ______________ (insert victim's specialty here) to assert control.
3) DO NOT LET HIM GET HOLD OF MY LEG !!!
4) FUCK !!!! How did he get a hold of my LEG.
Even when they know it's coming they cannot stop it. As his striking improves, so will his ranking. Spider might be retired by the time Toquino gets his shot, but he WILL get one, and he WILL win the belt. -
UFC needs to bump this fight up to the ME, no reason not to. This UFC on Fox just got awesome.

1) Sonnen isn't that big to the casual fan, where Rashad Evans is a known commodity from his past fights. In fact, I'd say Bisbing is better known to the casual fan.
2) Evans/Davis winner most likely fights Jon Jones. Best hype that fight as Jon Jones has true superstar potential so its better to hype up whomever is his next opponent
that said, after the fight I think everyone will know exactly who Sonnen is -
I disagree. I don't hink Rashad is more well known to the casual fan that Bisping OR Sonnen. Sure winner of the Evans fight (Evans) fights Jones but the casual fan could give a fuck about the story line. UFC on Fox needs big fights now and not later. They can't afford to wait for big fights. They need to start drawing in the casual fans now and I think putting a fight like Sonnen/Bisping as the ME does that more that Evans/Davis.
I also think the UFC needs to do a UFC countdown for this fight. Those are always badass and if fox airs some of those with Chael and Bisping running their mouths it just might get a few extra people to watch.
imo -
true. I am honestly going by the small sample size of friends I had who are looking forward to Davis/Evans and dont know Sonnen at all.
Either way, both fights on the card is great for all -
Yeah the card just got like 100% more awesome because of Muoz getting hurt. I honestly wonder why Dana is so gun shy with UFC on Fox. I mean Brock just retired on PPV, that should have been UFC on Fox, everyone would be watching. I always said that every other UFC sucks and at this point every UFC on Fox sucks.
