Anyone else find Joe Rogan extremely one sided and extremely annoying today? I honestly didn't care who won, and holy christ Joe was a few seconds short of shoving white shorts' potatoe stuffed shorts in his mouth. Brutal, I honestly think that 99% of the time Rogan does an amazing job... today however he blew it big time. He showed his favoritism and really ruined the match. Even the post game interview was brutal. Joe acted like an upset girl friend... extemely unprofessional.
yes Rogan was lop sided as shit for Rua. But that's because Joe sucks and Rua dictated the ENTIRE fight. We don't talk about the Royals or the Grizzles for a the same reason he didn't discuss Lyoto. Machida didn't do what Machida did for his first 15 fights. If anyone really thinks Joe went into the fight a Shogun fan, you're sadly mistaken. I guarantee he wanted to swing from the Dragon's nuts, but Machida didn't give him the opportunity.
Rogan sucks at his job. He is the epitome of Malcolm Gladwell's outliers. Right place, right time to land an awesome job. He's consistently 10sec's behind the action and misses shit pretty much every fight. He's a character at best. His post fight interview was easily the most professional shit he's ever done. He called the fight like everyone saw it and asked hard hitting questions.
Something an interviewer should do. -
my prediction is Machida by unanimous decision.
-
name association only. not saying you would ever post it.

I think because Lyoto Machida drinks his own urine it gives him the power to sway the judges. haha... DrG man its all good, we still love you, just trying to get it through to you that it was quite easy to see why shogun should win, still love your posts and post fight threads dawg, you hooked me up with a working link thats great.
Gotta go with LDM on this one thou :) -
great breakdown.

Sounds like Dana agrees with a lot of what GHouse has been saying. I missed the fight so I don't know. Dana also said they should have a rematch ASAP.
"You saw it a lot in boxing – and these guys have got to learn it in MMA – is when that 30 seconds is left, go after it and try to steal that round. Neither one of them did it throughout the fight."
It was that inability to steal rounds that led to the hotly disputed decision. But while White claimed he felt Rua earned the win, the UFC exec admitted the rounds were close.
"When you go round-by-round and you score the fight, I actually had Machida winning the fight up until the third round," White said. "The first round could have gone either way. I gave the second and third to Machida. And then I gave the fourth and fifth to 'Shogun.' Assuming that 'Shogun' won the first, fourth and fifth, he wins the fight.
"I knew it was going to be a tough one. I knew it was going to be strategic. It was everything I thought it would be, except they should have pressed more and gone after it at the end of the rounds and tried to really pull out the rounds and make it easier to score. It was a tough fight to score." -
was that a shot at me newb?

UR absolutely spot about Rogan. If not for UFC ppl wouldnt even know who the fuck he was and the ones that did would be thats that fcker from fear factor that would be his legacy bc his comedy/stand up is half ass at best

Cmon fellas, lets leave rogan out of this, the guys a class act.
-
Anyone know where I could watch the post-fight interiews? I watched the UFC in a bar and couldn't hear shit.

Just caught this fight in the UK plus I'm new to this UFC lark, but for all the aggression Shogun showed, Machida was never remotely hurt. If the fight had gone on for another 20 rounds there was only ever going to be one winner by knockout. Machida is a double hard bastard, guess he's got the 'chi'.

HOLY FUCKIN SHIT HOW ARE SOME OF YOU SOO FUCKIN IGNORANT. never once in the thread was dr g house tryin to say that in his eyes machida won the fight. every post he made he was tryin to figure out how the judges might have scored the fight in machidas favor. He gave some examples of things the judges may have seen that would lead them to give machida the decision. HE NEVER SAID MACHIDA SHOULD HAVE WON. he said he himself thought shogun was the winner. reading comprehension FTW holy fuck

really i just cant stand stupid ppl and there's a lot of them itt

Watching this fight with the sound turned off makes a ton of difference...Rogan was all over Ruas nuts

My opinion, which doesn't mean anything:
Shogun executed his plan of counter leg kicks well. You just can't expect to leg kick your way to a title win.
Going into the 5th, I had the fight 2-2, and I wouldn't expect a judge to take a belt away from someone unless the 5th was won fairly decisively, which I'm not sure it was.
I would be fine either way. If Shogun would have won I wouldn't have minded at all, but I really don't think he was "robbed."
Also as Staggs pointed out, if you would have seen it the first time with Rogan muted, you wouldn't have thought Shogun was as effective as he made him seem. -
