Griffin, a former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion, looks to bounce back after his first back-to-back losses in the UFC and remain in the upper echelon of Light Heavyweight Fighters.

  2. Worst.Card.Ever.

For the first time in several years I'm not buying a UFC PPV. Still going to the bar, but if I'm spending the coin I may as well get dinner and a couple beers out of it.
  3. Even without Lesnar and Carwin this fight card will be very entertaining in my opinion...prolly cause Rumble will be throwing some bombs.
  4. Serioulsy, Tito and Forrest Gump headlining a card is embarassing. This is why I root for other companies to succeed. UFC should be charging half price for this.
  5. Winners:
    Ortiz
    Johnson
    Thiago
    Nogueira
    Sadollah

Looking forward to Amir's fight. Love to see that kid on the mat, working his skills.

Lil Nog fight is "meh" as far as title implications, so I care very little about it, but it should be entertaining.
Johnson wins if he can keep it standing. Eventually he'll catch Kos hard enough to stop him. If only he could make weight consistently. He is the KO puncher that should take on GSP, not Hardy.

NEver much cared for Griffin beyond the entertainment value of his fights. I would like to see Ortiz make a final run, maybe even set up a "sunset" fight with Chuck.
  6. Fucking shit! Hit the wrong damn button so have to re-type the whole thing all-the-fuck-over-again!

Eh, people say that about every other card, it seems. And go figure, it turns out that these "worst cards ever" seem to turn out to be the better ones, if not the best ones, of the year! (UFC 96 anyone?)

Actually, I think this is a pretty good card. Not a "HOLY FUCKING SHIT, THIS CARD IS FUCKING INCREDIBLE" blow your mind kinda card, but definately not a bad one.

If you're paying for the PPV, do what I used to do. Get your buddies or, in my case, training partners and buddies to come over and you all split the cost of the PPV. 10 guys = $4.5/$5 a piece. Get everybody to bring some drinks/chips/food and it's a good night! No idea why more people don't do this, actually...

Not really the point Ghouse. We all know we can pool together... Just redic for them to be putting on PPV at full price that are not showcasing the top talent yet charging the same.

Whether or not the fights turn out to be the best ever or not, they are charging the same for card headlining Forrest "Parkinsons in my future" Gump and Tito "Porn star husband" Ortiz ffs.
  8. I don't always say it, I'm just saying it now because it's the worst card ever.

    /hyperbole

I suspect it's not the worst ever, but this card being poor has as much to do with dilution as with the Lesnar illness. Maybe I should have the attitude that I got to see the Ruth/Johnny U of the sport for free last week, but I can't help but think that these cards should have been consolidated and that my money is better spent elsewhere. I have literally never felt that way about UFC before.
  9. I think Johnson might murder Koscheck tonight :(
    p.s. did johnson make weight?

God, rereading that I'm thinking that I should be thankful that I've felt that I've gotten tremendous entertainment value for fucking ever. Boy, am I an ingrate.
  11. I can see where you're coming from. Makes sense to me, actually.

Just, I guess, I see it differently in that these actually are exciting matches and worth the money, with the headlining event much better then people give it credit for. Obviously it would have been a bit better with Carwin vs. Lesnar as orignally scheduled, but the UFC has recently been...well, fucked over with illnesses and injuries, particularly of champions.

Brock Lesnar - Hole in his intestine

Lyoto Machida - Fucked up his hand prior to the Shogun fight and f'ed it up even more during the fight.

Anderson Silva - Not recovering well from elbow surgery

Georges St. Pierre - Had an abductor tear in his fight with Thiago Alves at UFC 100

The only healthy one is B.J. Penn.

So, just an unfortunate time. It'll obviously pass and the overall quality will continue to improve.

IMO, MMA now is 10x better then MMA 4-6 years ago. And in 5ish years, we'll look back and say the same thing about now.

No question. I'm being a spoiled baby.
  14. According to Sherdog, all fighters did make weight, including Johnson. (Which would have been a disaster had he been overweight like his last fight...4 fucking pounds...joke)

    .....oicqydt! LOOL! Clever, clever!

And meh, we've been getting some really good cards as of late (UFC 100/101) and most, if not all, will look pretty poor by comparison...

  16. I have no doubt Ortiz wins this fight. After watching Griffen get toyed with by Silva I really have no faith in the guy.
  17. Silva toys with everyone!

I think it says more about Silva then it does less about Griffin.

  18. weak ass main event should def be a Ultimate fight night I wont even be watching this one live on the net
  19. and my standard. . . .which fighter has the greatest shot at winning tonight for betting purposes?
  20. I have absolutely no idea if any fight on this card is a "lock" (or as much as it can be in MMA). They're actually fairly evenly matched, but even those who I could say have an edge wouldn't surprise me at all if they lost.

Ask me when GSP fights Dan Hardy...

    haha

oh and who cares how "bad" the card is? There were some sick cards at the beginning of the year and i think ppl got spoiled. And like Ghouse said it's mainly b/c of the injuries to the headliners, not much UFC can do about it. Stop bitching about the price, get some friends and pitch in or go to a bar. I mean who cares about the card, at the worst it's a reason to get the guys together, have a beer, and watch two guys beat the shit out of each other.
  23. They should stop putting out ppvs every 2 weeks and stack some cards like ufc 100. This should be on spike; it's really weak. The co main events will determine which LHW is maybe 3rd in line for a title shot and which WW will maybe fight GSP in a year. Kos/johnson should be entertaining, though.

Eh, possibly. I do think he'll win tonight and be one more fight away from a title shot. (I think he's 60% to win) But this is his first fight against a real elite contender in the WW division. Josh Koscheck is no joke. He throws heavy and fast hands (though not with the greatest of accuracy), and he does have some sick takedowns and great top control....but regardless, probably the 2nd best fight on the card, imo (behind the ME, obv)

  27. Tito is a sick son of a gun marrying jenna jameson
  28. I'm not buying the whole layoff will affect Ortiz. Griffin is coming off his worst performance vs Silva and I've dumped money on him his last two. Not going to fall for it again. Taking Ortiz for a 5 unit play. GL guys.

try 6 pounds, but yes he did make weight yesterday. Can't believe how many people here are saying rumble has this easily, Id be really surprised if koscheck doesnt win this fight.

Seems the consensus is 'if rumble can stay on his feet it will only be a matter of time', which is probably true.. but that's a HUGE if. Apparently people seem to forget that Koscheck is a division 1 national champion wrestler. Rumble has pretty good wrestling but koscheck's is many many levels beyond. Coming out of AKA, Kos is gonna have a solid gameplan(which will more than likely involve using strikes to set up takedowns and finish the fight there), and will execute it much better than rumble can execute his own.

Or... rumble could rape him in 1 punch and call it a night. But I don't see that happening.
  30. Was it 6 pounds? Or was it 6 pounds the first time, was given the hour, and was only able to cut 2 pounds thus leaving him 4 pounds over?

Meh, f it, doesn't really matter, I guess...dude was over by a big amount and let's hope it doesn't happen again...

And yeah, no way he handles Koscheck easily. He may be able to KO/TKO him on the feet, but I get the feeling it'll be a tough, tough fight.
