Condit, for no other reason than I am sick to death of all the Diaz nut-huggers and fan-boys. He is good, but there are TWO "o"s in that word, not ONE. If I were to actually put $$$ on this, I would bet Diaz via decision.
-
Condit is a fun guy to watch, but he's outclassed here. Then again, I thought that for his last couple of fights as well so maybe I just underrate him. I'm pretty stoked for Barao vs Spott Jorgensen.
-
No doubt Diaz is a beast, one of the best ever. He is about the perfect fighter for MMA. Stamina for days, has an iron chin, brilliant boxing, excellent BJJ, and hes as tough as they come. With all that said.....Condit by 1st round KTFO!!!!!!

I also have a feeling Big country is going to KO Verdum. And as always I hope Koscheck gets tooled. -
Condit definitely has a better than average chance, but smart money is on Diaz.
Great article on Nick here:

Im actually going to a theater and watching this one in 3D. Anyone else watching it in 3D?
-
so torn between condit and diaz, both are about as exciting as it gets. I'm leaning towards condit in this one though mostly bc im still bitter over what diaz did to penn lol.
I'm not sure what big country does in this fight to win, seems like he's outclassed everywhere it goes, wall n stall couture style maybe? Idk I got werdum.
Koscheck by destruction and being the 2nd best WW imo. Would anyone bet money on diaz or condit vs the godcheck knowing they are just gonna get taken down and smothered? -
Who I want to win:
Condit, Big Country, Pierce
Who I think will win:
Nick Diaz, Werdum, Koscheck
I think Diaz is to technical for Condit and will pick him apart on the feet. Diaz by decision. Werdum will be too much for Big Country. Werdum by decision. Pierce beats the guys he is supposed to beat, but never beats the cream of the crop. Koscheck by second round TKO. -
unless they are facing an elite wrestler...
-
This main card is soooo goood. The main event is going to be a war, both guys are two of my favorites to watch. I have Diaz by late finish or decision. I doubt Coduit will be able to match Diaz's pace for 5 rounds. I wouldn't be surprised either way though.

edit: And in respect to Diaz, today I will refer to Carlos as "Conduit". -
Edited By: Geoff Moore Feb 4th, 2012 at 06:20 PMI think I have said this in almost every single MMA thread for the last year or so but it's worth repeating. GSP will not beat Nick Diaz. GSP will not be able to sit back and pick shots and will have to take Nick down. Once he does that he will probably try and lay on him like he does to everyone else but Nicks bjj from his back is just as threatening as when Nick is on his feet. Diaz wins 8 out of 10 times vs. GSPOriginally Posted by Milo
GSP later this year . . . okay, so I am jumping the gun a tad, but I get to claim "first" now, right?
ftr i think Condit has a better chance of beating Nick than GSP does -
Who was the last wrestler he fought? I don't know off the top of my head but I'm going to bet that he lost a decision. Let me check...
Oh, it was Sean Sherk. Yes, it was almost 6 years ago but the argument works both ways. That was the last time diaz faced an elite wrestler and it was a 5'8 155 pounder who beat him soundly.
Styles make fights and diaz has never shown once in his career that he can deal with a strong badass wrestler...just saying. I'd bet koscheck all day against nick. There's just no way the guy has good takedown defense. It's one of those things that people seem to either have or they don't. I can't really think of any instances where a guy has horrible diaz-like TDD and then a few years later is stuffing takedowns like chuck liddell, can you? Honest question I'm curious. -
I really can't think of anyone off the top of my head, the closest I could think is Rampage? He's a better wrestler than Diaz but he's really a pure striker who developed a strong TDD.

The reason why Diaz gets taken down easily is because he is not worried about being take down. He is more comfortable off of his back than when he's on top which is why he doesn't get a lot of TD's either. -
rampage was kind of the other way around, he came into pride as an american wrestler tossing people on their ass almost every fight. The crisp boxing came second. It's more obvious in his earlier fights when he was just taking people down and trying to submit them. Kind of crazy how different rampage is now.
I agree with what you're saying about nick not giving a fuck about being taken down. But if he's fighting a guy he can't submit who can take him down at will, he's going to lose every round. I think wrestling/top control is a little ahead of the mma curve than just bjj. Like, it's easier to take someone down and control an elite bjj guy than it is for the bjj guy to pull off the sub (see gsp vs penn) -
3 levels in 1 post?

Diaz will stay on his back for 5 rounds and GSP won't get submitted. How does diaz win? -
Chavez vs Rubio > tonight's MMA card
-
Gsp might be the worst style matchup for Diaz in his entire career. Gsp wins that fight a high % of the time. How exactly do you see Diaz winning? GSP is the best MMA wrestler in MMA. And yes, MMA wrestling and wrestling credentials are very different things. Diaz can't stop the take down and GSP is too tough to submit.

With that said, I'd take Diaz over almost any fighter that isn't a strong wrestler. -
Allot of people thinking this fight will go the distance. I just can't see it. Two guys who love to bang and come straight at you? Diaz does have 10 decisions but condit only 3. I'm calling 1st round KO/TKO, 2nd at the latest.
I think Big country can pull off the KO win here. Werdum's striking is so rudimentary and his chin is suspect. With Nelson's iron chin he also doesn't have to worry a lick about Wedum's strikes, only takedowns. I see Werdum having a tough time getting the takedown and eventually getting KO'd. -
watching prelims right now. Decent lil 2nd round.
would love if someone could post a sopcast link for the ppv please and thank you -
that was a brawl! great first prelim fight.

Chris cope is just one of those guys you like to see get knocked out. He's so awkward and lanky, it really cracks me up when he goes down.
