lol he mad
-
wat a crybaby bitch. polar opposites those two, condit's interview was all class
-
I think so too, but they don't score the fight on the whole, they do it by round, and the first 3 rounds could have gone to Diaz, or they could have gone to Condit. It's really a flaw in the scoring system I guess but whatever. -
pretty unusual I agree with the judges bc mma scoring is so bad but I had it scored 48-47 Condit. Thought he clearly won rounds 1,3,4. Round 2 was close and could've gone either way. I thought Diaz clearly won round 5.
walking someone down throwing your hands up doesn't win fights. Condit executed a beautiful game plan. He also landed the better strikes and more shots according to compustrike. -
lol Nick Diaz is such a bitch
-
The flaw in the scoring system is that they don't use the whole 10 points that a "10 point must" system has. Close rounds should be scored 10-9 or 10-8 and dominant rounds should be scored more heavily so that you can't just win three borderline rounds, get dominated in two and still win the fight. I've had this argument ever since I started watching boxing thirty years ago. Imagine if baseball innings were scored like MMA and boxing...

I've never seen a fighter who ran away like that get so much love from the judges. Condit picked it up in rounds 3 and 4 but no way in hell won round 1, 2 or 5 IMO. It was close but should have been exactly 49-48 Diaz if you actually watched the fight.
-
I gave Diaz 1,2,5...Condit ran the 1st round, with Diaz landing the more significant strikes
-
Glad Carlos won, good for him!! And I can't wait till someone knocks one of the Diaz brothers the FUCK out just to stop their cockiness. And Roy is one of the toughest ever, but as said before, no more UFC fights please. Clock burner...

I should have been more clear because I completely agree. It's stupid that there's not more 10-8 rounds in MMA, because you're right, it's way too easy to squeak out 2 rounds and get dominated in 1 round and win the 3 round fight. When it came up before the fight that Cecil Peoples was one of the judges I got a sick feeling though. It's become completely cliche but you just can't leave it in the hands of the judges because MMA judging is terribad. -
lol at the diaz fanboys. not one judge thought he won the fight. He won two rounds... he wants to complain about Condit backing up and landing "weak" kicks? Pretty sure you can't win standing in the middle of the octagon with your hands to the side trying to taunt your opponent instead of throwing punches. Maybe be a little less dipshit, throw some more punches and you win.
I was hoping I could find something a little more than this, but still too soon probably.Originally Posted by astaggs

"Compustrike saw Condit landing more strikes than Diaz in the first, third and fourth rounds. Overall, Condit oustruck Diaz 146 to 110, according to Compustrike."
Not sure what you saw in the first round, but Condit definitely threw more and landed more, and that was the difference. -
well, i'm glad condit won but I had diaz taking the first 3 and condit with the 4th and draw for the 5th, didn't look like diaz did much damage on the ground. however, I can see draws by random judges in the first 3 rounds as well.

I think diaz won but I was diappointed with him after the 3rd and don't feel bad for him losing subsequently.
Reason: dyslexic -
Weak leg checks made up about 90 of Condit's "strikes". That is why giving the decision to someone who had 0% aggression, octagon control, or pressure is mind boggling. It's more upsetting that this shit happens all the time.

IMO rounds 3 and 4 (for Condit) were by far the easiest rounds to score in the fight. I'm not sure how anyone could give Diaz the 3rd.

Is it really octagon control if your goal is to push your opponent into a corner and punish him, yet everytime you get him there he escapes almost immediately?Originally Posted by CardXFactor

And regarding the effectiveness of Condit's strikes, I will be surprised if the stats don't show Condit landing more significant strikes than Nick. -
I'd agree with a draw for round 3. I didn't think condit really did dominate until round 4.

to CardxFactor--those kicks have to count, but I agree otherwise, diaz controled the fight most of the time. -
Koscheck vs Nick Diaz
1 time...the shit talking up to the fight could be EPIC -
100% agree

Wow... I don't even...
Round 3 is the first time I have ever seen Diaz start backing up. He knew nothing he was doing was working. Condit had total control of rounds 3 and 4... as for control...

Pretty much this... -
If Diaz had been able to control the fight then he'd been able to do some damage. Since he wasn't able to do any damage I don't understand how the argument can be made that he controlled the fight. Condit went wherever he wanted. He didn't look controlled to me.
-
And to prove how bad MMA judging can be, the two judges who scored the fight 49-46 gave the 3rd round to Diaz.

One of the main problems with MMA judges is that they are usually boxing judges. The state sanctioning bodies don't differentiate between the two so a boxing judge who isn't that knowledgable about MMA may score quite differently than a judge who understands MMA and submission fighting.

Judges are never going to give Diaz close rounds because they are paid to judge a fight, not a trash talking session. I was pulling for Diaz and am really starting to like him more and more, but he needs to throw more punches when it's a close fight. Save the trash talk for before/after the fight, or at least for fights that he's definitively winning.

Well based on Fightmetric, I was wrong on round 3. They gave it to Condit in a close round. They have round 4 being the most dominant round of the fight.

They do however have Condit outlanding Diaz 151-105 in significant strikes. -
