I saw it from some information my Dad had last night, but I haven't been able to keep find more info. It seems the word is spreading among the locals, but not sure as to the accuracy.

The U.S. Coast Guard says there is some sort of substance in the water in the Gulf of Mexico, and officials are collecting samples to determine what it is.
Coast Guard spokeswoman Casey Ranel says the agency sent out a cutter Sunday morning to collect samples of the substance, which was spotted off the coast of Louisiana. She says officials are still awaiting the results of testing. Officials also were working to determine how big of an area the substance covered.
The Coast Guard had gotten reports of an oil sheen, but officials have not confirmed the substance is oil.
Ranel says dredging had been going on not far away at the mouth of the Mississippi River, and it's possible the substance is silt dredged from the bottom.
  17. lucky, just saw your question in the french film review. i will follow up with it tomorrow after the game and I go for my walk. thanks for posting the article. The rumors started a couple of days ago, so if it's true people are trying hard to keep it on the downlow.

  20. nice!
  21. It doesn't surprise me that there is some sort of sheen in the Gulf.

There were only about 214,346,754,758,397,246 gallons of oil spilled out there and dispersed less than 1 year ago.

Doubt the vast majority of that shit was "cleaned up."

100 miles of 'goop' spotted in Gulf of Mexico

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla — The Coast Guard said on Sunday that miles-long patch of discolored goop floating in the Gulf of Mexico appears to be caused by river sediment.
The Coast Guard collected and tested samples of a dark substance after receiving varying reports on Saturday of possible pollution floating on and beneath the water's surface.
The largest sighting described the substance as stretching 100 miles into the Gulf, south of Grand Isle, Louisiana.

  23. Hardly fear-mongering. A dark, discolored patch shows up in the area of the Deepwater Horizon accident and numerous other oil rigs and we are supposed to assume it is river sediment and not oil? Jus' say'n.

Glad it's not oil, don't need anymore instability in the world right now.
