  1. Not sure how I feel about the 1 round fights. Obviously from a fan perspective I love watching 16 fights. That said, I think it's prob the wrong way to go about it and we prob didnt get the best fighters on the show. There were quite a few fights where I thought to myself man this def should be more than a 1 round fight and you could hear Faber and Cruz say the same thing multiple times during the broadcast. I think the format def favored the guys who cut tons of weight and we prob saw alot of heavy weight cutters advance, and who are gonna look sloppy and gassed if they go past 1 round.

Anyone else think Faber was pretty awesome to listen to mic'd up? Dude was telling all kinds of stories, thought he was really good.

  2. I feel like the live format is already causing some issues. Part of me liked it because it obviously forced action but it was a huge detriment to guys who aren't pure strikers. I'm a little bias towards bjj guys so I feel like we may have gotten cheated out of getting to watch some good grapplers this season because they were so worried about only having 5 minutes to work.

The other thing is with it being filmed live I could see the show running long on almost every episode, but them being committed to a time slot so cutting the show early during a crucial moment. And not to mention we will surely miss the drunken sloppiness when the guys are at the house.

Will be interesting to see how it works out but I'm guessing it won't be as good as other seasons from a show perspective. Some of the fighters look really explosive and I'm stoked about some of the potential match ups.

Early picks for winners of the season?
  3. Dana already said FX isn't worried about going over in the time slot and so did a FOX executive, so that's not a prob.

My early pick is the kid who trains with Black House, Justin Lawrence. The guy Faber kept referring to as Wolverine was pretty freaking solid too.

  4. Only way i see them going over the time is if they head to a thrid round. Also, for the umpteenth time, only the fights will be live. So, I see the show being 45 minutes of "House" bullshit, followed by the live fight action for that week.

And plus 1 on Lawrence to take this down . . . kid looked composed, and damn if he can't fight.

welp, that took all of one episode to come to fruition
  6. wow that was pretty epic for the first real fight of the season.

excited to watch to watch the rest of it

  7. That sucks he got caught because he's way the better fighter. I'm happy for that kid though, hopefully he will be able to keep growing as a fighter and make some money.

    who got the next fight?

  8. Cruz picked Justin Lawrence to fight and then said Faber could pick whoever he wanted to fight him. Urijah couldn't pick anyone so he asked who was ready to scrap and nobody wanted a piece of Lawrence lol. Dana then told Cruz to pick someone and he picked Faber's top fighter imo (Marcello). I think whoever wins this fight will end up winning the season.

Lawrence is a very well rounded fighter. He will keep this fight standing. Ive seen him fight a bunch of times kickboxing and mma. He is focus and well trained. Its a tough fight for him but I have no doubt Justin will come out on top!

  10. that says a lot about Fabers guys

I'm most excited about Marcello this season so I'm stoked he's already fighting. Lawrence is the obv favorite but you can't sleep on Marcello. Guy is a beast
  11. should I be adding in an extension to the DVR since these are all going to be live at the end?

    Yes
I added 15 min after missing the end of friday nites show.
  13. Whatta nasty knee...it's too bad, cause other dude seemed like the better fighter. He just got caught.

Next week's fight should be pretty sick.

  14. Yeah and the guy even admitted the knee was an accident. That guy was definitely the better fighter, he got inpatient after standing up for a few minutes and went for the ground in a bad spot.
  15. this week was weak...

  16. lot of hype for a really boring fight and a slap across the face knock out. not impressed by either in this fight....

Agreed. Dude seemed to gas pretty quick. Not sure I agree with Faber's strat going into the fight. Why fight to your opponents strength? Shoulda went for takedowns/submissions/g&p. Why stand-up with a stand-up guy, just cause he's expecting a takedown?

    Overhyped episode.

  18. Terrible game plan. You could just feel the KO coming from the moment the fight started. The Brazilian guy kept his chin straight up in the air while coming forward.
  19. I was really hoping for a big week from Marcello. Unfortunately when you pursue your opponent and then engage by putting your arms straight out and backing away, it doesn't lead to victory.

I hope Tickle gets KO'd in the near future

the brazilian guy was referred to as "a legend"...maybe in BJJ but definitely not in MMA buddy. and the #1 pick guy was quick but i wasn't blown away by his abilities. not really digging the live format because i think we're missing out on some of the gold from them living in the house together. hopefully as more people get eliminated, more house drama will surface.

  21. Yup, even the "pranks" have been lame. "Oh no...not the posters and parking signs?!"

  22. Putting the thong on Faber's chin was pretty funny tho. Anybody know why they don't like each other? They both seem like nice guys.
  23. Not enough behind the scenes stuff from the house, Cruz is going to cruise for a while.

because they are trying to sell a fight, and no other reason imo
  25. the trash talking between faber and cruz is so ridiculous, both are just so incredibly stupid and have no clue how not clever they are being.

I liked the last two fights some good battles

    completely agree.
  27. No clue how the last fight wasn't scored 1-1 and sent to a 3rd round though? If it goes 3 rounds, Lawrence or whatever his name is gets KOed.

I guess Dana agrees with you and so do a lot of others. I am a noob to this and just picking up on things but I remember thinking I agreed with the decision.

Ogle was a beast last night, I was really impressed. He just picked him apart standing up and when they finally got to the ground he destroyed him (after a few minutes).
  29. Best coaches challenge ever?

I think last season was air hockey...lol
