  1. Is there a good reason these fuckers can't wait for you to answer the door? I literally was 6 feet from the front door and they just drop it and run. If it wasn't for my dogs hearing him run up and barking at the door, I would have not known until tomorrow that I received a package.

I get they have time constraints and all but would it kill them to wait 30 fucking seconds to see if someone is home? If I'm a thief, I would just follow the fuckers around all day and profit for fucks sake.

    Ok end of rant!!!!
  2. I'm getting my NFR tickets via Fed Ex Friday. Hope nobody steals them.
  3. you better be looking for them because they sure as fuck don't care if you actually get them, just as long as they get delivered where they are supposed to

  4. It's up to the shipper whether to require a signature or not...normally the drivers' policy is just to leave at front door. They will try to find something on a porch to hide a package behind, but if not, it will sit at the front door.

I know UPS drivers will actually come into our garage if we're home for lunch and put the package in the garage when we're sitting at home.
  5. It's an option to pick signature required
  6. A signature confirmation is a service you have to pay for. These companies usps ups fedx push these signature confirmation services pretty hard people like to ignore them then bitch about it later. Next time spend the extra 2 bucks for the service and youll get it you cheap bastard... just sayin.
  7. yeah well most shippers don't require a signature. I ordered some shoes from nike and it wasn't an option

  8. According to brief internet research, the average UPS driver makes more than 200 stops per day. You expect him to wait 30 seconds at every stop and add ~2 hours to his workday?
  9. Most do its revenue. Believe me most of these companies are losing their collective asses due to the economic downturn and high oil prices. Some people want these services some dont. If your using a smaller carrier you have to be very specific if these services arent offered to you.
  10. Anyone else remember when getting a UPS delivery meant your S&H Green Stamp order finally arrived? Good times.

not necessarily but I would prefer he hit the doorbell at a minimum. Would it kill him? Can you do some research how long his day would be then? Don't bother, I can do it. Takes a fucking second to press a button. And i didn't expect much sympathy, I was merely venting, thus the end of rant at the end of the op

  12. Whenever we get something from UPS the guy just sits the package in front of the door and knocks loudly like twice and then takes off.

I work for UPS but I work for the supply chain side, the brown side which you see all the time delivering your shit is like a whole other company.

if he would have done this, this thread wouldn't have been made, but whatever, I feel better after venting

Yup. Holidays we're around 300. Ring the door bell & run. Seriously wasting 2 hours a day per person 'waiting 30 seconds ffs' per stop, $28-$38 an hour per driver... Think they rather take a $100 hit on a pair of shoes or w/e rather than pay everyone across the country who is employed for them more. It effects everyone pay wise from drivers to warehouse workers to the mechanics. *insert umadbroit'slogistics.jpg*

btw OP more than likely you got a 'runner' who are ride along help who prob doesn't know better. It's the holidays. Every driver has one.

  25. My dad works at UPS. Luckily he is a feeder driver now. He did routes for like 20+ years. Cut them some slack, they work 12 hour days over the holidays in the cold, etc. It isn't an easy job by any means.

  26. I work at a hotel and the shipping industry as a collective whole totally sucks. Whether it's guests/contacts receiving or sending packages it's just completely fucktarded.

Not saying the people just the industry itself is not organized very well. Needs some serious six sigma help.

  27. UPS is the absolute friggin worst for service and damage control but they are also the lowest cost courier out there for anyone that moves a lot of volume. I swear they drop kick the boxes from the truck to the depot and have it handled by 600 lb gorillas in their warehouses. Don't get me started.
  28. i know a guy ordered a desktop from Dell that was delivered FedEx.

They literally left it on dude's front door step in East Nashville. Now granted East Nashville is 250% safer than the very best parts of Memphis, but of course the computer got jacked.

Dell sent him another, and required a signature the second time.

This is exactly how it goes for our company. You can put a claim in, but if FedEx or UPS drops the package at the address they were supposed to, they have done their job.

The extra fee to require a signature really isn't worth it for us tho...in fact, paying insurance on the package is almost not even worth it anymore. We rarely have packages stolen or lost, and if you take the cost it takes to insure or require a signature, it's definitely not worth it in the end.

Anything over $500 automatically has signature requirement on it tho.

Also, there are problems for both sides of the argument. If you live in a place like NY, the nearest hub might be 20 miles away, and that drive may take an hour and forty-five minutes. If a package has a signature requirement on it, and the recipient doesn't sign the slip that's left, the shipper will then hold the package at the nearest hub until the recipient comes to get it (after 3 delivery attempts). NOBODY wants to drive the 45+ minutes to get their package b/c it has a signature requirement on it...especially if they live in a decent part of a city where it's okay to drop a package.

On the other hand, some people will call to bitch and moan that we didn't require a signature on their $45 golf shirt b/c they live in a shitty neighborhood and their package got stolen.

You will honestly NEVER please everybody...it's just impossible.

  30. have a few friends who work for UPS, asking anything more of them then delivering the package on time is beyond ridiculous this time of year, you guys wouldn't believe the volume levels these guys are expected to deal with from Nov. 15 through Christmas (I think thats the date my buddy said their official busy season starts) its a miracle the packages are even on time at all
