Well, this ought to go over really well.

US AG Eric Holder says that the United States will hold Iran accountable in the plot to assassinate the Saudi Ambassador on US soil.

  5. Do we have a play here? Does Iran want a war? If they succeeded would we have a choice but to respond militarily? Do we have a choice but to respond militarily despite their failure?

This is just not a good thing. Not a good thing at all. We can't afford another war and you gotta think Iran knows this. We've got to do everything in our power to ensure that this thing doesn't escalate.

They were going after the Saudi ambassador? Let the Saudis deal with them. We can sell them plenty of weapons.

  9. It just makes it easier to deepen the sanctions against Iran through UN and our own unilateral actions also. I don't think we make a military play. I do wonder what the Arab states' reaction will be to this, though.

    .

Ideally this is what would happen. I wasn't endorsing any action in my post, just saying what our leaders reactions probably will be.

How surreal would it be for Saudi Arabia and Israel to ally in a war against Iran? And you know if that did happen we wouldn't just be standing on the sidelines. We're incapable of that the way things are now.

Exactly 180 degrees from what I was thinking. Now is the time to take action. What they have done is a very bold act of war. If you combine this with their funding and material support for insurgencies around the world and think it is bad just wait until the get nukes, they will become even more brazen in their actions. This is a problem we can deal with today or we can let it become a bigger problem in the future that we won't be able to deal with. The choice is pretty clear to me.

One has to realize that this does not just involve us, it involves the Israelis and Saud who will have to deal with this as well. They should have our full support.

ya lets start a war in support of the country that funded the 911 attacks and the country that knew about these attacks before they happened. that would complete this story rather well

They did those things and we let them off the hook? Shocking.

Not only does this headline get the US, Saudis and Iranians attention, but its also going to reach into the Zetas cartel cause they will not be very happy when they find out they have an undercover dea agent in their circle. Im sure they will find him quickly though lol.

How stupid is the govt though. Pretty much putting a death sentence on that undercover guy by announcing he even exists.
