lol that's how we ended up with one...it's really not even that big inside, so I'm not sure why chicks suddenly want one after they have a kid.

on a side note, we trusted our good friend who owned the dealership when he told us to lease it...he said CR-Vs hold their value so well, that we can lease it for 3 years, pay it down to like $17K left, and sell it back to the dealership for $20K+ and use the difference on a down payment on a new car. hope he's right! no whammies one time... -
That truck is like a german shepard, at a dog show, thats in the show ring, getting pranced about by an overweight broad, that looks up in the stands and sees a skeevy stoner getting BITTEN IN THE FACE by a badass drug sniffing, crowd controlling german shepard.
Why have a truck if you aren't going to do man shit with it? I'd never own a pickup I was afraid of getting a scratch on. -
I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that posting your liscense plate in OT is almost as dumb as posting your phone number in OT. Have fun getting pulled over at gunpoint because some bicycle seat sniffer makes an anonymous call saying they saw you hit and run a midget in a wheelchair.

Def this. And whoever said you'd screw yourself on repairs, they're wrong. Audis just do not break down, they're fucking German engineered ffs. Sline Audis are triple pricey for servicing tho (lightning fast too tho, great fun), just go for the quattro.
-
lol @ "German engineered" not breaking down. German cars, Audi's included, are notorious for costly repairs.

Correct. -
I'm going to guess you got a newer one (post-2006), I think they have a little less interior room than the second series CR-Vs.

another reason folks like them is decent gas mileage to go with the reasonable amount of room. plus it's not a slug, pretty good combination.
Hondas are good. -
yep we have a 2012...and it gets ~30 MPG on highway, which is great. i like it.

Had BMW and Audi, never had a problem with any. Only thing went wrong was standard wear and tear, i.e. brake pads, tyres etc..
BMW/VW/Audi renowned for not breaking down in this country so not sure where you get yours from. IF they do break down, yes parts are expensive, but when you only have to replace something 1/10th time compared to other cars, works out cheaper. -
Do they really spell it "Tyres" in the UK or was that a typo?

Edit: After a google search apparently that is common, interesting.. -
Curb stomps are needed in this thread like no other. Support your fucking country you pieces of shit buy american.

my Honda was built by Americans. most "foreign" cars sold in America are built in America.

if you want the profits from my choosing to buy a Honda then buy Honda stock. -
Lol..if any American manufacturer made vehicles that were as beautiful inside/out as Euro/Japanese and actually performed well I'd have no problem buying American. It's also a misnomer that youre not buying US since they make brands like BMW in the US now.

Honestly, can you name one American car that comes even close to competing with Lexus, BMW, or Audi? Even "luxury" American cars have garbage interiors made up of mostly cheap plastic.
It actually blows my mind at the complete lack of these companies ability to adapt to the current marketplace. Even Hyundai and Kia who were considered the absolute worst vehicles on the planet less than 10 years ago now make a handful of models anyone can be happy to drive. It's like American auto designers pay absolutely 0 attention to ergonomics. -
Buy American is really just Buy Union. It has nothing to do with America.

Actually, the new Cadillac's are pretty damn sweet. I drove a CTS 4 the other day with a 6-speed manual and it was one of the more memorable cars I've driven as a valet. It's hard to say if it's as nice as a Lexus, BMW, or Audi, but the materials felt genuine and very modern.

I can't really comment on the Cadillac but that interior does look pretty nice. I suppose it's all a taste thing-I just find European and Japanese cars way sexier than the straight lines prevalent on the majority of American vehicles. Euros also seem to place more importance on performance around turns whereas a lot of American muscle cars are behemoths that go straight quickly but feel like a boat around the curves.

I also think American brands could learn a shitton from those like Lexus in terms of the customer service experience. When I brought a relatives car into the Lexus dealership for service I felt like a celebrity....when I bring my Jeep in I feel like an insignificant number. -
Edited By: HeyNiceAscot Aug 16th, 2012 at 08:19 PMLaser Seam Welding. It's a production technique used only on luxury vehicles (and Volkswagens!). Instead of your normal spot welds, you get a complete seal which increases the rigidity of the chassis. This means increased vehicle handling and stability on the road, increased safety, less erosion from rust, and a longer lasting vehicle. It's easy to tell which vehicles are spot welded and which ones are Laser welded just by looking at the roof line above the door. Spot welding will be covered with a rubber weather strip to keep moisture out (corrosion), while laser welded cars will have nothing more than normal paint.Originally Posted by Shaaarrrp

Also a lot of American vehicles don't use one solid b-pillar. They actually spot weld two pieces of b-pillar together, which is really dangerous if you get t-boned the b-pillar will spit in two which can possibly impale the passenger. VW's I know use 1 solid b-pillar that is triple reinforced and I'm guessing that's standard for German cars. Next time you get in your car look at the space between your driver door and your rear door. If there's a seam in the middle of your b-pillar your car is a piece of shit. -
What do people think of Inifinity? Much less than I was going to spend, but wouldn't mind offering like 6K in cash for this if it will last http://capecod.craigslist.org/cto/3198448491.html
-
Thanks also, I've never thought of buying something with over 30k miles on it, but it makes sense if it will last.
-
so after asking about new VWs and getting 3 pages of opinions recommending an '07-'09 audi or infiniti, you went with a 1984 BMW?
Good times. Glad we could help. -
2000 528i, 60k miles 3500 bucks couldn't pass it up, even if I sell it now I can double that. Best drive in a car I've had, as smooth as dolphins salami flaps.
