Do you know how many time a day people say shit like that to a waiter. The only reasn your waiter would laugh at that is if he was being polite. Most of the time people who act like that reallly are bad tippers and just do not realize it. Not saying you are just saying, Also when you get your pay check your boss does not joke with you about the demotion you just got.

The tax really should not affect the bill that much, unless you are at a really nice place.
When a restaraunt adds gratuity they do it before tax though. -
"idk that's up to u sir"

So you want to spite yourself by telling him not to give a tip? Makes sense.
I just look at the total bill, but I'm normally tipping 20% on it.
I know I've always been told to just tip on the pretax bill, but then I'd probably do 25% anyway so it all evens out. -
you know how I know you're jewish?

i guess i did this at the bar last week, kinda embarrassing, after consuming 1/3 my body weight in whiskey, at 3am i closed my tab and it was like 96$ which is pretty expensive (this aint vegas), i remember i couldnt even read it, i tried signing it and just drew squiggles all over the whole receipt, i remember asking what in the fuck i was supposed to tip, bartender told me 20% was normal, i couldnt do math or write at that moment so i just told her to mark whatever was fair...... i have no idea how bad/if she waxed me lol, i probably deserved it though

check your bank account. had this happen to me, with bartenders i knew. just blackouted out signed my tab, told the bartender 20% he wrote it down and i signed it. come to find out a new guy who didnt know me added a 1 in front of it, figuring i was so hammered i wouldnt notice. saw my bank account called, they checked and obv was added after the fact, my tab was $65, left a $(1)15 dollar tip. Good deal they refunded me and fired the noob.

Really? Here in Williamsburg, Virginia, tax on dining out is almost 12%.

It is only 7% in GA so it really does not make that big of a change. That is why I put the part about how the restaraunt does it.
On the second part I am not talking about getting a bad tip, I was talking about the bad joke. -
20% tip on bill of $100 = $20
20% tip on bill of $100 + 12% tax = $22.40
not that big a difference imo
