  1. These are my favourite types of movies and I have been tried to pick up as many as I can over the years, some great, some not so great, but either way..whenever I see one in a discount bin I tend to pick it up. Anyway, here is the list of what I have (off of the top of my head), what I am looking for, and any suggestions of good ones I may not have seen would be appreciated.

    MOVIES I OWN:
    -Glory
    -Alexander
    -Troy
    -First Knight
    -Hamburger Hill
    -The Black Brigade
    -Band of Brothers Box Set
    -The Last Samurai
    -Kingdom of Heaven
    -Casualties of War
-A Knights Tale (blah I know but fits in with the genre)
    -Lord of The Rings set
    -Gettysburg
    -Apocalypse Now
    -Apocalypse Now Redux
    -Enemy At The Gates
    -The Four Feathers
    -We Were Soldiers
    -The 13th Warrior
Movies I need to buy: Gladiator, Braveheart, The Thin Red Line, Windtalkers, 10000 BC, The Great Escape, 300, King Arthur, The Lost Battalion, The Last Legion, The Patriot.

Any other good war/history movies out there that maybe I forgot, haven't seen or simply omitted?
  2. I've said it before and I'll say it again - Band of brothers is the greatest thing ever made.
Solid list. Not sure you wanna bother with 300 though. Very gay.
  3. Saving Private Ryan???

  8. Schindler's List, Deer Hunter
  9. Gangs of NY clearly
  10. Band of brothers for sure and full metal jacket...
  11. Platoon and Full Metal Jacket are my fav war movies...
  12. Ya..wasn't a huge fan of 300 from a historical standpoint. As entertainment it was pretty good though I thought.

Also Deer Hunter, and Saving Private Ryan are two I left off by accident (trying to remember every movie I own or want without being in front of my movie case is tough). Definetly great movies though. Most every movie listed so far is a great movie so thank you..got alot of bargain bin hunting to do soon I am thinking.

  13. Gotta get the HBO Rome series. Sex, lust, greed, murder, politics, war, rape... and I whenever I watch it I think how great of a poker player some of these guys would be, lol.

  14. Is it that good? I saw advertisements for it but have never watched it (don't get HBO).

  15. It is not in English, but No Man's Land is a great movie about the war in Bosnia. I think it won the Oscar for best foreign film, although I am too lazy to check Wikipedia to verify.
  16. ^^^^ 2nd the Rome series. However, the second season not nearly as good as first b/c they skipped wayyyyyyyy too much.
  17. Full Metal Jacket

    Patton
  18. I'm shocked you love war/history movies and don't own Gladiator/Braveheart. My 2 personal faves fwiw.

Also recommend Black Hawk Down. Awesome movie.

  19. i thought JARHEAD was a really sick movie..

Only movie I've ever walked out of the theater on. One of the worst I've ever seen.

jarhead was so terrible, do not watch that movie

    ¿
  22. wtf...how do you figure?
  23. Apocalypto would fit your collection
The Real Assassination of Jesse James
  24. Make Gladiator, The Patriot, and The Lost Battalion priorities. Windtalkers is fun if not the greatest movie ever, same goes for Three Kings. Do not waste one second of time or one dime of your hard-earned money on The Thin Red Line. Trust me on this one.

Not listed: you should def get Patton, Saving Private Ryan, The Longest Day, Tora! Tora! Tora!, and my strongest recommendation is to get All Quiet on the Western Front, 1930 version is amazing but the 1979 one is excellent as well.
  25. jarhead was like a behind the scenes look at a marine corps platoon that never saw any action, if you understand that, the movie is really not that bad. i've watched it a few times now including once in the theatre.

worst movie ever on OP's list is Alexander, Colin Ferrell plays a horrible whiney homo bitch in this movie, this is close to the worst disappointment in movies that i have ever seen.
  26. i thought jarhead was a really good movie..and very realistic...i never heard much hype about it, and put it on when it was on tv one day and was couldn't believe how intense it was.
  27. It's one of those things where you always see them for sale, but then you see something a little more obscure or harder to find beside so you alwys buy that one first and then never get back to buy the original ones.
