  1. WATERLOO, Ont. — The University of Waterloo has suspended its football program for a year in the wake of a steroids scandal called the "most significant" in Canadian university sports history.
The doping revelations stem from the spring arrest of Warriors receiver Nathan Zettler for possession and trafficking of anabolic steroids. That prompted the school to order the entire team be tested.
From the 62 urine samples collected, the Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport reported nine potential anti-doping infractions. They included four admissions of use, three positive tests and one refused test. A ninth case is pending additional police investigation, the CCES said.

Pretty sad day for Canadian college football. I would be super pissed off if i was enrolled in the football program. I don't think the players can just transfer and immediately play somewhere else. Could ruin the careers of innocent players forced to sit out for a year.
  2. im pretty sure there setting something up to let the players transfer without losing a year of eligibilty.
  3. sure hope so, snowman. That would be sick for a third or 4th year guy to get stuck at this point.

  6. Miami University where I go to school played their hockey team in an exhibition game. I wonder if any of their hockey players were doping it up as well...

  7. 9 of 62 actually doesn't seem too bad for a football team

Not really - most teams are probably lucky to get 1,000 fans out to a game. TV coverage is very regional, with maybe one nationally televised game each week.
  9. It's really awful as well, even at its highest level... I'm a U of Saskatchewan grad and live in Saskatoon, one of the teams who is in the chase almost every year, we probably get as much support as any other Canadian U, but it's just shit football.

    F Waterloo.

canadian college ball is exciting to watch but the fan base is pretty small. Nothing like American college ball, not even close. But its the entry level for our kids to get into canadian pro ball or get a shot at the NFL in some rare cases.

I hope the innocent don't get fucked outta the deal, but being from around here, canadian college football was already a big enough jokes as is.
