  1. I was extremely surprised that Capello left off Theo Walcott. He hasn't been the greatest this season, but the kid has sick sick pace down the sides. Very surprised to see Wright-Phillips and Joe Cole both get the nod over him, esp. SWP.

And perhaps a bigger surprise was seeing Guiseppe Rossi axed from the Italy squad. He's got a hell of a strike, and showed what he could do on the biggest stage in the Confederations Cup.

Any other surprises out there that struck you?

Any other unsolicited WC comments welcome too, fa sho.
  2. The entire abortion of a roster Maradona created for Argentina. They prob should be a legit contender but will flame out cause of this failure of a coach.
  3. Dos Santos from Mexico is a huge shocker
  4. Just posting ITT to express my excitement for the upcoming World Cup, despite my knowing next to nothing about soccer

Side note: oh nooooooooooooooo strikethrough text is gone!!!! boooooooooooooooooooooooooo

Yeah, that one is pretty interesting as well. Definitely thought the brothers were both a lock. Well, Giovani for sure, and it seemed like everyone was saying Jona did enough.

Whatever tho, excited to see how Chicharito does. I think my United squad did some ridic. business there and think this kid could be a star.

I think it is a mistake by capello. i do think swp is a better player than walcott. however, swp and lennon are very similar players so i dont see how bringing on swp will make a big difference to a game. walcott's best football has been in the CL imo and a lot of countries will play similar styles and systems. I think walcott's raw pace could really trouble a lot of defenders if he is brought on for the last 0-30 minutes of the game.
Really suprised about leighton baines being left out for warnock but it isnt really going to matter unless something happens to ashley cole.
I think it must be part of the interview process for the england managers job that they like heskey. he is one of the worst strikers england have ever had. i hate they way we play when he is in the side. rio just playing long balls up to him. might as well not have a midfield at times. how he can go ahead of bent who has scored 24 goals for a pretty bad team this season is just rediculous imo.
Upson is not good enough. Dawson should of 100% gone ahead of him. People say that upson has more experience but most of his games have come in frendlies or against lesser nations. Upson is out of form and dawson has arguably been the best defender in the league the last few months.

Argentina would of had a real good chance if maradonna wasnt in charge. leaving out cambiasso is an absolute shocker.

Pato for brazil is a suprise for me. I dont follow a lot of italian football but it seems like ronaldinho has had a good season from what i have seen.

This situation has turned into a circus. Jonathan is a very good player, he is on Barcelona for a reason. He got very little playing time in these past few friendlies which was very unfair.

And Chicharito is a badass, he is from my Guadalajara squad. I hope he succeeds.

Reports are that Rio Ferdinand is going to miss the WC with a knee injury. It seems like i am the only englishman that doesn't think this is a bad thing. I have always thought that he is overrated and as long as Ledley King's knee holds up, we are going to be a better team without him. Without injuries i believe King would be top 2 or 3 defenders in the world so i am very very happy he is going to play.

    So basically King>>>>>Rio
  9. i cheer for italy and i didnt think there was any way rossi would be left off that roster. pretty brain dead to leave pato off Brazils roster. i know they're loaded but they arent that loaded.

others that probably should have made squads:
    ronaldihno, benzema, totti, zanetti, cambiasso

Pato to me was a surprise.

But Ronaldinho wasn't. Dunga was never going to pick him, for whatever reason, no matter how well he played this year. He was fantastic for Milan this year, but for some reason Dunga hates the guy.

Cambiasso is a mistake. Maradona is a fucking moron headcase as a coach. Milito, Messi, Higuain, Tevez tho can make anyone look like a genius on their day. So, Argentina could def. win in spite of their ignominious skipper.

I agree with everything you said on the England squad. They are the national team I follow most heavily, though as an American I still want to see US>England.

But if Lampard and Stevie can partner well, and Rooney catches fire, and the team stays healthy, England has a very very good shot. In fact, I am picking them to win in my OT bracket. I figure if they win, I'll win the pool. If I pick some others, then I still may not win depending on other pciks. So England it is.

Warnock>Baines was actually another shocker I forgot to mention. That one surprised me by quite bit.

Dawson=Upson. I don't think either one are loads better than the other, but given Spurs play this year, and his form, I'd also take Dawson.

And 1000% agrii on Emile. The fucking guy sucks, imo. Hell Defoe>Heskey.

King is awesome. But in no way can you argue that losing him is a good thing. Cmon meow.
