  1. Mod Edit: All fantasy football discussions and strategy talk will be merged into this thread. This includes possible trades, "Who should I start?" "Who should I draft?" and "Rate My FFB Team" There will be a new consolidated thread each week throughout the season.

Don't see a thread pinned yet so I guess I will start it off.

I have some interesting scenarios week 6, both with who to start and who to trade.

12 team, standard scoring. Start Tony Gonzalez or Gronk at TE? I am leaning towards Gonzalez because he is up against the skins secondary, while gronk will likely have to play a large blocking role against the seahawks pass rush.

If I start gonzalez at TE, that means I have QB, both WR Spots, and TE locked up, leaving 2 RB spots and the Flex. For those spots, the options are Gore, Alfred Morris, Donald Brown, Mikel Leshoure, and Gronk. I believe Gore is a must start, which leaves two spots. Leshoure is coming off a by week, Donald Brown is playing the jets and is coming off his best week yet, and morris is an absolute monster who will get 20+ touches but is up against a tough vikings defense. And there is still gronk as discussed before as a flex option.
    ^Cliffs: Pick 3: D. Brown, F. Gore, A. Morris, M. Leshoure, Gronk

    Trade possibilities:
    - Cam Newton: With Andrew Luck as my QB 2 throwing the ball 50+ times a game do I try and trade newton for a top tier receiver? I am currently starting Lloyd and Maclin with a fairly depressing bench of back ups (L. Hankerson, D. Jones, G. Little). My thinking here is that Cam, even if he breaks out, is not going to average more than 25pts a game for the rest of his season. Andrew luck also has a much easier schedule. If i get a receiver who can put up a significant amount of points compared to Maclin, and also fill my gap on a bye week, then is it worth losing the potential upside of newton?

    Lucks Schedule: @NYJ CLE @TEN MIA @JAC @NE BUF @DET TEN @HOU @KC

-Gronkowski: has under preformed all season. Tony Gonzalez is on a bye week 7 so if gronk has a couple good showings this week and next, do i try and trade him as well? Maybe for another better receiver option if I cannot sell newton?

  2. Start Gonzo, pick three is Gore, Morris and Leshoure.

Trade Newton and start Luck if you can.

Not sure what to do about Gronk, especially with Hernandez coming back.

Which side of this trade would you rather be on: (A) Larry Fitzgerald and Owen Daniels for (B) Anquan Boldin and Stevan Ridley?
    1
  3. What does the rest of your team look like? Standard league or PPR? I really like Ridley and I think that while boldin is just gonna ride your bench, If you have any kind of depth at WR and need a back, this is a good trade for whoever is getting him. But again, its close and really depends on the bench. What side do you have?

  4. definitely keep starting Gonzo. he is tearing it up and his redzone looks are not going anywhere. I would like to try and trade Gronk if I were you to someone who is struggling a TE and see how high someone is willing to buy him. Probably half the teams in your league could use an upgrade at TE.

Bubba, really depends on what my team is, in a vacuum I probably prefer A. but if I am shallow at RB and solid at WR B is the easy choice. Fitzgerald has put up 3 very good games in a row after a slow start and I think he'll be the most consistent player moving forward. I love Ridley but with the amount of options NE has and Bolden carrying the ball effectively I think his fantasy output will be all over the place.

The league starts: QB, QB, WR, WR, WR, RB, RB, TE, FLEX, K and DEF. We only have four bench spots. .5 PPR.

I'm making the trade, so trading A for Boldin/Ridley. Before the trade:

    QB: Brady
    QB: Luck
    WR: Fitz
    WR: Bowe
    WR: Jennings
    RB: Peterson
    RB: Pierre Thomas
    TE: Owen Daniels
    FLEX: Jackie Battle
    K: Zuerlein
    DEF: Baltimore

    BE: QB Brandon Weeden
    BE: WR Davone Bess
    BE: TE Aaron Hernandez
    BE: RB Andre Brown

Definitely making the trade because I'm super fucked at RB and have at least a little bit of depth at WR. Boldin will be starting.

  6. A lot of bad advice ITT.

Never starting Gonzo over Gronko and if I'm trading anyone I'm moving Gonzo at the peak of his value and shoring up my team before watching Cam and Gronko resume normal production.

I'm the guy that would be offering you some 3rd tier WR that starts for you and I'd rape you for Gronk and/or Cam in some awful trade because you're panicked 5 weeks in.
  7. I've got Eli starting at QB, but I also have the Niners defense. If either of them have big weeks I'm hurting myself. My backup QB is Rivers, and I'm trying to pick up the Rams D on waivers. Any advice?

Imo, saying you'd "never do this, this or this" is the only bad advice in this thread. It's this type of level one thinking that will lead you to a 6-7 record.

The Seahawks defence is for real and so are Cam Newtwon's struggles.

Luck > Newton the rest of the season.

  9. just traded michael bush for anquan boldin.

my rbs before (and still are) MJD, Charles, TRich

my wrs before greg little, syd rice, steve smith. i think it was a good trade for me as bush was just sitting every week and i definitely need an upgrade at the wr position.
  10. also do i go with RG3 off this injury or stafford against the iggles?

you're the guy who offers some 3rd tier WR that I would counter back with for a top tier QB b/c your trade offer is so insulting. how is it ever bad to make trade offers for any player just to see what the perceived market value is and to open up some sort of trade negotiations? no one ever said trade gronk for what ever you can get. but how the fuck does it hurt to look at teams that are struggling at TE and see how they value each player moving forward and then make a decision? like bubba said, the only bad advice in this thread is putting shit in terms of absolutes and being closed minded to all options.

  12. Just traded trich straight across for megatron to a desperate owner who had only one starting back in a ppr.
Line up is so rapey and already 5-0
  13. 16 team league. My lineup looks like this:

    Matt Shaub
    Demarco Murray
    CJ Spiller
    Darren Mcfadden
    Frank Gore
    Rashard Mendenhall
    Dez Bryant
    Torrey Smith
    Jimmy Graham
    Kyle Rudolph

I realize Im pretty deep at RB and was offered Brandon Marshall for Murray.

    Take it?
  14. Good trade if Stafford can remember how to throw the fucking ball.
  15. Was just offered Steve Johnson for Donald Brown. Standard scoring 12 team league. Would leave me with three backs, Gore, Morris, and Leshoure.

I think take it, because my current WR options are Lloyd and Maclin. The questions would then be, do you start Johnson or Maclin next week?

  16. My backs are
Franchise league and were 2 years in

    Forte
    Peterson
    Richardson
    Spiller
    mendenhall
    Leshure

    my main WRs are
    Roddy White
    Reggie Wayne

I got offered Colston for Mendenhall

    PPR league do it?

    We start

    2 WR's
    2 RB's
    flex

I would 100% do this trade

I think you have to do this because you are so thin at WR? Do you only have to start 1 or something? What do you do on byes?

Well I would for sure do it. Not just because of your situation but because i think Marshall is going to put up huge #'s this year. Just looks motivated. I think Marshall is going to be more consistent than Murray. Plus, you don't need Murray

  20. Definitely do that trade. Great to get some versatility in your WR core. Then you can sit Dez/Smith based on their matchups.
  21. I need a RB and have Welker, Lloyd, Harvin as my starting WR"S with Reggie Wayne and Brandon Lafell on my bench. Which WR should I offer as trade bait and who could I possibly get in return at RB for them?

If I dont trade any should I keep starting Welker, Lloyd, and Harvin or should I put in Wayne? Which one do you start Wayne over?
  22. If its ppr, start Wayne over Lloyd. I would probably trade welker if its ppr. He has a lot of value and you should be able to get a stud rb in return

I have some interesting scenarios week 6, both with who to start and who to trade.

I think starting gonzalez over gronk this week is reasonable, given gronks hip injury and production.

I would be looking to trade off one of those TE's that will help you improve WR, and yeah if you can get a could price for Cam then do that for sure. I would prefer to trade off gonzalez, as i think he's at his peak right now, while gronk is not. you will probably get someone to value him too highly.

Even if you can't, I'm sure there must be better WR options on the waiver wire than Greg Little. I'm in a 14 team 2-QB league and I can see a whole bunch of guys who are scoring more points and I like more than Little sitting on the waiver wire.

bigger picture stuff, why don't you just look at rankings somewhere to see who to start? Do you seriously think that you and/or people on here know more about fantasy football than analysts who are bright guys and do this full time for a job?

  24. Didn't see a thread for week 6.

What defense has a better match up this week?

    Rams D @Mia
    Bengals D @Cle

Also, what QB would you pick up for this week only?

    Alex Smith vs NYG
    Kevin Kolb vs Buf
    Sam Bradford @ Mia
    Brady Quinn @ TB

I personally start kolb but smith is a close second and may be a safer play
  28. On a different team I am stacked at WR

I have Larry Fitz, Roddy White, Mike Wallace, Pierre Garcon, and James Jones.

Whom all do I start this week? It's a 3 WR league

  29. I know it's easy to say sell high on Gonzo and don't sell low on Gronk, but most people are thinking like that imo.

Gronk has less value than he did pre-draft but he was coming off an epic season and there is still selling high value based off that season, so he could be a better sell as people are looking to get him at a bargain value based off his preseason ranking.

Gonzo is in a spot where he was heavily undervalued preseason at this point, and most people know he won't keep up this production but he's in a great position to damn near match Gronk's production going forward.

Atlanta has really changed their offensive philosophy lately by throwing more than running, specifically in higher leverage situations where they used to predictably run.

Tony G. has been a key part of this new offensive campaign so his targets are high, he's also a high usage red-zone threat.
