So my roomate thinks he can drop 15 lbs in about 6 weeks. He weighs 190 lbs, and is trying to cut down to 175 lbs. The bet will not allow any cardio of any type, he can only lift weights, but he never does and when he does he does it half ass. His whole theory is that if he eats right constantly, this will happen. There is also no way he can eat purfectly throughout this, so keep that in mind. I know it's only 2.5 lbs a week but I don't think there is any chance in hell. What are my chances vs his?

6 weeks, and no cardio? Not a chance he wins this.
-
TNSTAAFL except in this bet

WTF no cardio?! I mean maybe if he eats so incredibly bad right now this is possible. With cardio it would be easy unless he is like 7 feet tall. I say 2% chance he could do this with no cardio.

depends on what type of extra weight he has and what his current eating habits are. If his ideal weight is around 150 and he eats poorly right now, he should be able to do this pretty easily with just diet and lifting. if 175 is his ideal weight and he eats fairly healthy, it will make this much more difficult
-
lifting weights builds muscle, muscle weighs more than fat... with no cardio, it seems very unlikely... make sure he isn't eating any diet pills tho.
-
thats what i am thinking, unless he is lifting weights in a p90x type muscle video, where it ends up being a semi-cardio routine.
-
"no cardio" is like an impossible loophole
he doesnt have to go on a run but that doesnt mean he cant start taking the steps at work and shit. -
For the most part he does eat whatever he wants right now with eating healthy just a couple of times a week. He can walk wherever, but he isn't going to, he is not trying to get an edge in that way. It seems to me he has a little bit of fat to lose, but he defenitely isn't overweight by any means.

if its no cardio.. can he do super light weights ? like do jumping jacks holding 2 lb wieghts its technically weights but also a cardio... or doing like 200 curls at that weight will make you more sweat and tierd than gain muscle.. and you say hes not looking to get the dge... why take a bet if hes not looking for the edge?????
-
I don't see how this would be possible by just changing his eating habits. He'd have to almost starve himself to cut that much weight.
Lifting weights would only add more weight to him (albeit muscle) so that wouldn't work for him either.
My guess is the only way he achieves this is if he does do cardio and lies about it. -
he could masturbate incessantly, thats not cardio amirite
-
Technically he has to offset about 1500 calories a day (unless hes gaining weight daily now) if he knows what he is doing with his diet he easily can offset 500-800 calories a day, that leaves about 2 hours a day of moderately intense weight lifting/ or walking about 4-5 miles aday.
-
Are you going to weigh him at the start/end of the bet? He could easily drink a ton of water before the first weigh in, and basically dehydrate himself for the final one, this would be 5/6/7 (complete guess) of the pounds right there.
