If the teams tie, the team with the easiest schedule gets top pick. The Rams play Pit and SF the last two games. The Vikings play Wash and Chi the last two games. Colts play Jags the last week. No way either the Rams or Vikings overtake the Colts for easiest schedule, given that as of now the Colts have the easiest strength of schedule.

I don't think you understand strength of schedule. If previous teams that the Colts have played all win this week, that would make their schedule tougher. If previous teams that the Rams have played all lose this week and next week, that'll make theirs easier. Make sense? It is based off of their opponents winning percentages. It doesn't matter who they play that is left, it matters what all the teams they have played so far do, too.

Edited By: Luho Dec 23rd, 2011 at 05:35 PMAre you counting the Texans for this week? I really have no clue what the SOS are at the moment...but wouldn't throwing the Texans into the mix on the Colts side really hurt them? Maybe not enough. And also, I think Donkey is correct on this. There is no way to know what the SOS will be until the games are played out.Originally Posted by MUPokerPlayer

But it all doesn't matter b/c Gabbert will gift wrap them a victory next week anyhow -
I don't think that Washington, Chicago, Pittsburgh and San Francisco all going 1-1 (as they both have to beat St. Louis/Minnesota) is not enough to change the strength of schedule in the Rams/Vikings favor.

Good point. I stand corrected. Maybe :) Hopefully the Colts and Vikings win out making this a moot point. Cause we all know there is no chance the Rams win out.

Wouldn't surprise me if the Rams beat my Steelers this Saturday. Unless they put Dixon at the helm. If Big Ben starts, then I hope they fucking lose b/c that will piss me off. Charlie Batch is ridiculous. I love him as a sideline presence, but not in the game. -
Both St. Louis and Minnesota are 2-12 heading into Saturday's games, but the Colts' .547 strength-of-schedule percentage is only going to worsen after playing the 4-10 Jaguars. The Rams' percentage is .587 and the Vikings' .587.

Guess I am wrong. Colts get #1 pick should they lose to Jaguars.
Unless ESPN doesn't realize SOS can change based on how previous teams the Colts / rams / Vikings have played do the final two weeks, too. I don't see how this can be right. Isn't SOS based off of opponents win percentage? I'm really confused by this. -
The current strength of schedule for the full season, including teams that will be played in Week 16 and 17:
Indianapolis: 120-106 (.531)
Minnesota: 127-97 (.567)
St. Louis: 132-92 (.589)

Still, if Indianapolis loses at Jacksonville on Jan. 1, they would finish with at least a share of the league's worst record at 2-14 and have the top pick in the draft by virtue of strength-of-schedule tiebreaker.

Just to make things interesting... Colts/Peyton have been beating the shit outa the conference rival jags for 10 years- if the colt lose they will( possibly) draft luck to have a good qb in the waiting to beat the jags down for another 10 years-- what if the jags throw the game to make sure the colts don't get luck?
-
schefter already said if the colts lose next week they lock up the number 1 so not sure what u guys are arguing about as far as the schedule goes
-
Yah this is a no doubter...not only b/c they can use the 3-4 picks they get out of it, but also because Sam Bradford's trade value couldn't be any lower than it is right now.

He's been hurt...fairly inefficient (not all his fault)...and is guaranteed a shitload of money. Not a good combo to get trade value for. -
the bulk of Bradford's guaranteed money has already been paid out. The financial decision about whether to dump him or not is if they want to just throw away all of the money they've already invested in him. If they can get 2-3 1st round picks and another 2 2nd rounders, which I heard as a possibility the other day, keep Bradford and take the picks.

That is, if the Colts fuck up and win their last game. -
understood...he'd still be a pretty tough piece to move.

career 55% passer...same TD:INT ratio...has injury concerns from both college and pro...etc.
like i said, i'm okay with building around Bradford if we can get great value for the #1 pick. -
Luck will be a Redskin or Brown regardless of who gets the first pick. Colts, Rams, and Vikings need guys to fill their roster more than Luck who has been way over hyped and didn't even have a better year than another QB in his draft class.

def trade for picks. im still on the bradford train. he may have regressed a little, but you cant really tell with all the injuries around him as well as to him and the tough ass schedule to start the year. im more than happy with him as our franchise qb. i also think luck is super overrated tho, so that weighs in on my decision -
Soon as the Colts beat Tenn I said that we would win out. Colts will beat Jax and slide to the 3 spot come draft day. Felt great for Wayne last night in what is probably his last home game as a Colt.
Sucks Barkley decided to stay as I figured he would be our guy. Now there is no telling what way the Colts go. Plenty of time to talk about that stuff after the season though. -
Dear Mr Irsay,
Reggie Wayne... Pay that man his money. -
I love Reggie as much as the next guy but paying him big $$ is a mistake at his age. Something short like 2 yr deal Im cool with. Who I really want gone is Dallas Clark. Never been a fan of his or the money Polian gave him.
Colts made Clark the highest paid TE when he inked his last deal and we have real studs like Mathis whos underpaid and underappreciated -
I think Clark is gone. Only guy I think we really have to keep is Mathis.

Looking at the related threads makes me realize how quickly things change:
Colts dominating and $20 bets on stars -
For every Peyton Manning, and Troy Aikman, and John Elway there is a JaMarcus Russell, Tim Couch and David Carr. I don't think NFL players can ever go into a game intentionally trying to lose. They have been brought up their whole life to give 100% from HS to College to the NFL. There is no coach or owner that is going to tell their team to roll over so we can get the #1 pick, its just not going to happen. If a coach or owner did, I just don't see a player intentionally trying to make their team lose. On top of the reasons I just mentioned it would also be illegal and I don't think Goodell would take to kindly to teams throwing games. You don't play games at the end of the season to figure out draft order, you play games because as a player and coach thats what you get paid to do. You have Colt fans that spent hundreds of dollars in August for a week 16 showdown to see Peyton Manning/Matt Schaub showdown. Unfortunately it doesn't always work out like that. The fans still paid the same price to see Orlovsky/Yates and what they got was a great game, that had a team with no chance for a playoff spot going crazy to win the game. It was awesome. WHo the fuck wants to Donald Brown rush up the middle 4 times in a row to kill the clock and end the game? Seriously, stop with these stupid comments.
You play to win and everything else will fall into place. Thats how people like Joe Montana (3rd round pick) and Tom Brady (6th round pick) got their chances and they made history. I just can't deal with another post that says "WHAT THE HELL ARE THE COLTS THINKING BLAH BLAH BLAH", its just so fucking dumb. -
Bradford will be fine. But he plays behind the WORST O Line in the NFL. Jason Brown would be the worst free agent signing in Rams history, except for the Drew Bennett signing.
They need to get the 1st pick, and TRADE it for a azzload of picks, hopefully load up on o-line help, and get Bradford some descent receivers.
I personally would rather have Bradford, than Luck.
