Do you tip a tattoo artist at all or is it built into the price? I just got a $160 tattoo and tipped $10.
Also, the ribs is incredibly painful. -
Thank you for not posting pics... dear god I don't want to see some dude's tat

I go to an expensive guy, cause I'm working on a whole back piece. Pay $150 an hour. Last session, he did 2.5 hours, but only charged me for two (cause he made me wait 1.5 hours for a 4 hour appointment, family emergency). I tipped him $50 on top of the $300, probably a little high but I really appreciate his work. Plus, your regular guy should like you and want to spend more time on and be excited about your work.

no chaz joke yet?
weird... -
FK tipping if they want to make more charge more - ffs, why can't shit just be built into the price?

i use to run a tattoo parlor, im not an artist though. its amazing how many people go bargain hunting when theyre out trying to find a tattoo artist. you would think people would pay a bit more and go with the proven artist, but they usually just go for the cheapest quote. now im not saying more $ is always better, but for something thatll last forever im for sure gonna be overpaying just for safetys sake.

20% at the bare minimum. i gave the guy that did my leg sleeve a few tshirts, a bottle of some pappys bourbon, and a new rotary pen when all was said and done.
you really do want to make friends with your artist and it makes them more eager to do their best. ive known my artist for 7+ years and chill with him bout 2x a month. he still likes to check out his work about every other time i see him to see if i need touching up and what not. hes constantly showing my leg off to randoms when hes networking and im more than happy to lift my pants for them. -
They shut down 7 parlours here because of AIDS and hepatitis problems. What do you tip for that?

a doctor provides a service and requires talent
-
Pretty sure whatever amount that you decide to tip, your better off doing it prior to the proceedure.

Thanks for the rail and stuff. Had a few OT rail calls, due to ship one soon.
Cheers -
Thinking about getting my first tattoo. About 90% sure what and where finally, lol...has only taken me two years to decide
-
This is what I was thinking because he's not going to show his appreciation for the tip after getting it done. Or if your getting another tattoo you could tip after I guess. But either way, I tipped after.
