I thought you had to be an illegal to deliver papers

And who the hell pays 80k+ to deliver papers. How many hours are you working a day and how many days a week? I have two friends who own companies that deliver papers, coupons etc. and they don't make that. And they own the company. I love ya savvy but I call bs unless you splain yourself -
older lexus 6-8k rebuild heads and tune-up + 1k be good for 100k + miles in comfort/style 10k left for hookers and blow imo
-
well if they pay you 80 cents per paper and it costs you about 10K per year in expenses you can easily make almost 6 figures per year delivering 350 per day 7 days a week
-
80 cents a paper. That's fucking crazy. That's more than just about any paper costs. I doubt you can make much more than 10 cents a paper
-
that's the point isn't it
-
tsxxx no lolz.
ok guys heres the deal. he does extra work around the depot to make extra monies(stacking papers in the depot a few extra hours a week) hes got a route with mostly commercial addresses including, but not limited to (police stations, political officies, FBI and alot of rich residential customers thrown in) he only makes like 35k base pay but he makes almost that much in tips yearly as well (im assuming people feel bad about gas prices)and when he does his taxes he owes almost nothing due to writing off everything. so yeah he isnt pulling 100k pretax but when you consider the amount he does take home its on par with a 6 figure income. plus i do other things. it works out to be like 3 hours a day of work because all the spots are relatively close together. if you hustle it takes that long. so 70k ish with not much tax liability (w/e thats 6 figures screw it)
-very interesting about p diddy.
-the guy im taking over for isnt smart enough to do that. hes a convicted felon -
my gut is either
a) whatever you're expected to do is harder than you think it is
or b) you cant actually make 6 figures doing it
reason being, the act of driving around delivering papers is just not worth that much money. the general idea with capitalism is you pay more for things that are hard to do, and you pay as little as possible for things that anybody can do. i also have a hard time believing anybody tips extra because they feel bad about gas prices.
all that said, i'm thinking v12 jaguar. -
I think you'll be lucky to make 30k a year. Why would a convicted felon ever give up a job making almost 6 figures a year for working 2-3 hours a day?
You cant be this oblivious can you? If it seems too good to be true, it most certainly is. Im pretty sure youre getting hustled, as Im assuming youre buying this route from this convicted felon or something? -
Yeah if you're getting 35k a year in tips from delivering 350 papers, that's like 100 tip per paper. And if you're delivering to police stations and the FBI, you're not going to get a tip because there's no one to tip you. IMO. Even 35k for 3 hours work a day is way a lot for delivering papers
-
the guy is going on disability and getting back payments for 2 years (50k)
but i guess ill just listen to you dolphin instead of this guy because you know someone
why wouldnt the FBI or police tip its paperboy? He drops self addressed envelopes in the paper every 3 months. He says almost everyone on his route tips and they tip well. Is this really that hard to believe?
Anyone still get a paper on here and if so how much do you tip per year? Multiply that by like 200-250 and thats what Ill make in tips. My 84 year old grandmother tips like 10$ a month to her paperboy. Thats in line with what this guy is telling me. (and she wont even give me a break on a car she's selling me she wants blue book value) yeah shes fucking cheap as shit.
-no im not buying the route, im simply taking over his established larger route...bigger than any other one i could get starting out. he gets nothing for referring me either. hes just a guy i was lucky enough to meet when i needed more money. -
im going to have to say that rich ass long island where cops make like 150gs a yr we all make more money than people in kentucky. and the tips are better. and you probably didnt even work long enough to make any tips either. so yeah you got fucked. you prob delivered some bullshit paper too.
just sayin (this is new york people) -
i dont know anyone who tips $10 a month for the paper. Maybe a couple of bucks at christmas...
-
ok. where do you live sir. im sure its probably somewhere like mianus or some shit.
let me say again. mostly huge businesses on this route and all the residential is like million dollar houses or close to it. -
huge businesses tip in cash?
I don't know any huge businesses that don't pay by check based on invoice processed by the faceless accounting dept
something doesnt add up here -
90% of everyone in this thread who doesnt think a newpaper guy should be tipped are people who most likely pay 50$ a month for internet and dont get a paper. i understand. i dont get a paper either.
however some people who do get papers do appreciate the person who gets their ass out 365 days a yr to get them their paper before the sun rises. damn so many unappreciative asswipes out there huh -
i never said they paid in cash
it wouldnt be very smart for people to mail cash would it
something doesnt add up...your reading comprehension -
so the huge business accounting dept automatically adds in a tip on the invoices they process? the huge business actually overpays its bills?
-
I had a paper route when I was 12. 35 customers on my route, some tipped, some didnt. I think I made 40 bucks a week doing it. Man those were the days.
-
are you the OT police? who the fuck are you. get the fuck out of my thread.
i dont know anybody who tips10$ a month for their paper?
oh really? so you just called all ur friends who get a paper and asked how much they tip before you responded then? i call bs on you son.you sound like an asswipe. -
touchy..
just trying to figure out if this $100k per year paper delivery racket is real so I can get in on it too -
sounds like most people make 3-400 a week but they do half of what this guy does
like i said he does extra jobs in the depot to add to his pay for one, and from what he tellsme he gets tipped very well by his people. Sure the FBI and some poliical figures and steakhouses and shit get a paper, but it may only be one specific person who reads it like a company bigwig. whatever they tip could come out of a holiday bonus budget and is tax deductable as a business expense for them also.
yeah it sounds too good to be true if you dont mind working starting at 2am and doing it every day without a day off. for a night person like me who hates bosses. its perfect -
well, good luck to you, I really hope it works out for you
-
cheap fuck.
and oh a random noob coming in to make a stupid comment.
how ordinary -
fuck tipping. The newspaper should be paying you anyways.
What paper are you delivering. NY Times or Wall Street Journal?
