I have season tickets to the Wisconsin Badgers and this weekend they are obviously playing Nebraska. The seats in my section are on stubhub going for about $375 per ticket. I am really excited about going to this game but there has to be some point where selling the tickets is the right decision. What do you think? Just go to this game since it is going to be awesome or sell them and go to a bar near the stadium and just watch while being able to drink?
-
When $$>Entertainment. Depends on your bank account.
-
I think you sell the tickets...I feel as if going to the game will make you an accomplice to rape...cause Nebraska gonna get hammered.
-
sell the tickets, go to the tailgate, go to a bar before kickoff.
i love football, but i enjoy watching games on tv/at a bar as much as i like going to them. -
Just spend every penny you have on playing a round at Augusta... it's once in a lifetime and so what if you are broke and can't afford to play any golf anymore.
-
def this. But thats just me. I totally understand people who love college football. If I had season tickets for the cardinals, and they make the world series, i dont care if my seats are going for 2 or 3k. If they get over 5k id maybe sell, but prob not
-
sell then buy some for way less the day of the game and profit.
ill be in madison for it (not going to thegame) if the brewers dont play at home this weekend -
went to wisco. always found a way to sell my ticket to a random for a lot of money and then bought a ticket from a drunk girl friend who had drank to much "wasnt going to make it" for face before the game. this works very well in madison. especially at brats or kk

Obviously depends on your exact financial situation, but think about it the other way. If you didn't have a ticket already, how much would you pay? And why is there a difference unless you are literally living paycheck to paycheck?
and for me, i definitely sell -
- if you live and die with the team --> go to the game no matter what. money comes and money goes. i've been in this situation a few times (dodger playoff games, usc-ohio state, and a couple rose bowl games) and didn't have a great financial situation, but still wouldn't trade those experiences for anything.
- if you're just a casual fan --> sell sell sell -
This 100%, sell the ticket and then just scalp your way back in there, guaranteed you find a way and make some $.
-
def sell them before MSU rapes them again, just like last yr
-
If you didn't have tickets right now, how much would you be willing to pay for them to go to the game? Selling above that amount is +EV
-
this. you only live once

Go to the game man. You will regret it if you don't.
When Sweetness and I heard that USA vs England tickets were selling for like $1500-2000 a ticket and we only paid $150 for ours, we never even thought of selling them once. We knew we would regret it.
Wisconsin is gonna tear that Nebraska ass up and you wanna be there to witness it. -
What everyone else said
If your broke and $375 is alot to you its not really worth going to the game especially as a season ticket holder -
idk about you but during my time at iowa, the bar scene and atmosphere during a game was just as awesome as being in the game itself. being able to continue drinking all you want and a party atmosphere became the way to go after going to the games for a few years. don't be afraid to try this for a big game, you won't regret it at all. if you're a die hard Badger fan then this depends on your financial situation. if you can look back the next morning (regardless of the outcome) and say you made the right decision then that's what matters. enjoy the weekend regardless. i personally think the game itself has rape written all over it and I know Wisconsin ain't hesitant to run up the score on anybody.

sell the tickets, going to live, crowded games is overrated, money is not.
-
If I wanted to see fat white guys I'd go to a club.
-
At 200% you should sell any ticket unless it's your team in a National championship/world series/superbowl/nba finals.
Cash > experience -
This is the only correct answer. lol @ the guy saying money comes and goes wouldn't give up that experience for anything blash blah. What if the tickets could sell for $10 billion? There's gotta be some sort of threshold and if it doesn't correspond to the explanation by SCT then you gotta get your shit straight.

Face value is $49 I think and I definitely wouldn't pay over double. But that said I don't think my tipping point is $100 because since I do have them I value them more. I Probably doesn't make sense, but even though I wouldn't pay over $100 my point of pretty much having to sell is probably closer to $500. But the only ones willing to even get close to that are Nebraska fans at this point and I don't really want to put more Nebraska fans in there.
Meh, I will probably just keep them, but I was going to buy an XBOX with extra money since wife won't let me buy one....

Yeah it is illogical, but just about everyone is the same way. There was a study where they asked Duke students (supposedly some pretty smart kids) how much they would sell a basketball ticket for and how much they would pay for one. The selling point was sometimes as high as 2k and the buying point was like 100 or 200 or something. I was looking for the study online but couldn't find it and am not sure on the exact amounts but the difference was extraordinary.

(and the two sides were randomized among the same people who had applied to camp out for tickets and either won or lost)
