  1. if u were starting a franchise and had the number 5 pick overall what QB would u take? this is assuming rodgers, brady, Eli, and brees were already drafted.

i had this talk with a buddy the other day and said i would take stafford. he is in his early 20s still with 30-35 career starts and is really starting to come on. i really liked what i saw from him most of the year. who would u guys take? am i being a huge homer? anybody going to go with peyton for a couple years?
  2. Cam?
  3. 1. Stafford
    2. Roethlisberger (only 29 y/o)
    3. Romo (31 y/o - it shocks me that he's 2 years older than Ben)
    4. Newton
    5. Matty Ice

  4. VICK
    if not Vick probably Cam

  6. Probably Cam Newton. Stafford depending on the rest of the makeup of my team. Cam can make things happen by himself, but Stafford NEEDS a WR core and other weapons around him, or he won't be successful. Obviously cam can't do everything by himself, but if I'm building a team from scratch and need to win some games NOW (which is the current trend in the NFL), I take Cam over Stafford.
  7. Out of the top 4?

    Eli. Yea I said it.

Romo was a backup to Quincy Carter...

I'd take Rivers. One average season and he isn't an "elite" QB anymore?

going from 1st pick in the draft -> 6-10 and losing 3 games by less than a touchdown, 2 more by exactly a touchdown, is a drastic improvement. is it not?
  11. I would have taken Romo, but he is included in the top 4.

Brett Favre was a backup to Don Majkowski

  14. it was a great season for cam. but he didnt exactly have a bunch of scrubs out there. 2 pretty decent running backs, steve smith and a couple good te's. stafford had a terrible rushing attack yet still managed to put up over 5k passing yards, in only his first full season as a starter.
  15. Ben

    Rivers
    Stafford
    Cutler
  16. Fairly certain the answer is Stafford with Cam being a close second. There's a drop off after that.

  17. Cutler?
  18. How did Rivers go from a top four QB a year ago to not even being considered as a top 5 QB now?

  19. Killa Cam.

I don't doubt Megatron is the best, but there wasn't a ton of depth in receiving this year. Every pocket passing quarterback is going to need receivers, but I don't think you can argue that their receiving corps was better than middle of the league this year even with the ridiculous passing numbers. Their running game got squashed when Javid Best got hurt early in the season, so it took a while to develop additional backs. All that consideration, I'd say Stafford had a pretty amazing year.

Of course Cam isn't working with scrubs. I'd just prefer the versatility. With building a team from scratch, I think it allows you to do more things sooner without having to bolster other positions. Now if you give me the current Panthers, for example, and the 1st pick of the draft with the option of Cam or Stafford, I probably take Stafford. The Panthers already have a pretty solid group of skill position players. Give me the Tampa Bay Bucs, and I take Cam.
  22. Cutler sfobv
  23. Stafford
    Cam
    Ben
    Rivers
    Ryan
    Romo

He's on the same skill level as Romo, imo.

His numbers blow away Eli's and are comparable to Brady's. I would take him in the top 4 easy.

You do realize that numbers don't mean shit when you can't win in the playoffs, which both of the QBs you have just compared him to have done. Both have rings, and both are still alive in this year's playoffs.

Edit: In before you say Cam & Stafford haven't won in the playoffs. I'm taking an unproven playoffs QB with great potential over proven playoff losers like Romo and Rivers.

  27. Hey Michigan guys, the Lions had a great year. We get it, you love your future with Stafford.

There should be a OT dumping thread for NFL QB discussions.

  28. Jeff George. Still some fire in the belly.
