Besides masturbation and poker.
I've just finished some tutorials in 3ds Max 2009 software (brag). Doing shit I never thought I could do. It was so complicated: interface, steps. Easily learned in a college course w/ an instructor. Nonetheless, I still got through it. Found a new hobby for life.

I didn't even teach myself how to masturbate. I learned from an elderly, formidable lass on the trolley, shortly after arriving at university.

I spent almost 4 years learning the full adobe suite, photoshop, fireworks, flash, dreamweaver etc. Was a daunting task in the beginning and not very fun but it's all good now :)

I taught myself programming. Probably the hardest way you can do it too. I never read any books, tutorials or anything like that. I just stumbled upon some code one day, and just read and read and read until I thought I understood what it did. And then I tried and tried and modified and fixed and tried some more until it finally worked.
I read code, and wrote some down on paper for two weeks before I found the damn code editor in the application I started coding in. It was def worth it. -

For me? Cooking, gotten pretty damn good at it now. -
taught myself how to golf starting about the age of 12.
i went with a friend of mine and his parents one time, they let us hit some balls and my friend was decent so naturally i wanted to beat his ass.
my parents bought me a used set of golf clubs and i went about 3 times a week for 3 summers in a row.
I got better at some things fast and some took longer but I figured it out, never had a lesson from anyone or had a coach. I don't play enough anymore, and i hold the club like a baseball bat but played my 5th round of the summer last friday and shot an 80 so I do alright. -

I've self-taught myself how to not be repetitive and repeat stuff.

I taught myself how to be the best pre-press apple mac operator in Dorset County... (UK)

well, I taught myself how to fix the few things around the house that I can fix. Usually, I'll go and try to google it, and then see if there is a solution, then try it (not that different than a do it yourself book), so that and hooking up whatever electronic stuff I have is about all I learned myself.
