if you approach him in a hostile manner expected to be greeted by aggression and hostility back, the act has already been done and cannot be undone so no need to approach it in an immature manner. The more mature and reasonable you approach this situation the higher % of chance of the outcome you want will happen.

First figure out what you want as compensation then obviously be willing to come to terms with something in the middle. Not sure if you are serious about the drug thing, but its pretty easy to try and get a reason of why he did it from him if you actually act concerned and genuine that he may be in trouble. Something along the lines of "Bro, are you in some serious kind of shit? Is there any reason you needed the money so badly that this had to happen? You can always come to me for help..."

Obviously you don't trust him anymore as for the time being and won't be actually helping him out.. but it will show you are willing to understand and come to terms rather then just throw threats at him, probably make him feel more comfortable to admitting he fucked up or actually has a problem.. also something like "So what would you expect out of me if I happened to do this to you?" Try feeling him out see whats going on..

Sounds like you already were face to face with him and he isn't really willing to admit what happened so take the higher road and approach him first.. again don't be hostile but obviously don't be a push over.. like you said he is family and everyone fucks up, and maybe he will surprise you and take responsibility for his actions.. if he doesn't and acts like he doesn't give a fuck then ya you can just tell him flat out how you feel.. "Sorry dude, you fucked me over harsh until you make up for it i'm out.."

No need to act like a girl like most others trying to convince you itt like trying to take him to court and shit lool... or trying to get revenge like a psycho ex gf..
