HeyNiceAssWipe, just to clue your fuckin stoopid azz in, leaving a proper tip has absolutely NOTHING WHATSOEVER to do with how old the customer is. I'm old enough to be your grandfather (thank God I'm not) and I tip very well when the service is satisfactory and decent if the service is even just okay.

So fuck you and you can take your slam at "old people" and shove it sideways back up your clueless, adolescent, dildo-bruised gey ass. ktksbye.

  10. This thread reminds me of a situation i had at a bar a couple weeks ago. Let me know what you guys think. I had a few beers already and had been tipping well (like 20%) and paying cash. I went to the bar to order another beer which cost 5.50. I gave the chick 7 bucks with the intention of leaving it all, but she gave me 50 cents change. I thought that maybe she thought i only gave her 6 bucks and therefore shorted herself the extra dollar tip so i politely said "i gave you 7 bucks" just to let her know that she had made a mistake. She replied "I know...I took a dollar out for my tip". If she had just said i will be back with your change I would have said I didn't need any and the rest was for her, but it kinda pissed me off that she made that assumption even though my intention was to tip more than a dollar. What she should have done was give me my correct change and allow me to tip what i wanted. I didn't make a huge deal or anything but said that it was a bad habit to get into and that she should be careful doing that. She apologized and I of course still left the 1.50 tip. Obviously this isn't about the money, but rather the professionalism and principal of the service industry (which I have worked in for years). It is kinda like how a server should never ask "do you need any change" but rather "I will be right back with your change". What do you guys think?
  11. Dont you guys have minimum wage in US? Where are you coming up with this 2 dollars an hour waiter gets paid, unless they are illegal under table or something.

In Canada, the minimum wage is at least 9 bucks an hour, not a lot but for what waiters do its fairly reasonable. Anyone can bring drinks and food to your table, no degree, education or experience necessary, just a weeks training or so. They get that plus an extra 50/ 100 bucks a shift so doing pretty good.

Dude, you ever actually been to any other country then US or NZ? All Asia, most of Europe etc you dont have to tip and get just as good as service as North America or better.

Waitresses here expect a tip/ feel it is their right. Therefore, a lot of times service is meh but they feel it is their god given right. Will the real retard please stand up.

    Ok, this is completely untrue.

Now I have a few questions, as an above poster did. Isn't there a minimum wage in the US? I assume it goes state by state. So which states have minimum wage at $2.13 an hour? I believe the underground slave laborers in Vancouver make more than that. However our minimum wage is $9 bucks now I believe.

Now obviously we have become accustomed to tipping, however I do believe its bullshit. Although I do tip because it is standard here, I don't understand why the employees are not demanding more from the employer. Why is it up to the customers to make the wage up for a company who does not want to pay its employees. It is becoming a joke tipping now, and it doesn't stop. Tip the cabbie, tip the waiter, tip the bartender, tip the dude on the street panhandling, tip the salesman, tip the guy who brings your bags up to your hotel, tip the video store clerk cause he recommended a movie, tip your mom after you go home for a meal. Why should I be forced to pay this when the employer should be compensating his staff. Where should we draw the line?

Also this is only common in our society, most (not all) other countries tipping is very rude. I actually received better service in SE Asia in multiple countries where they work to work hard. They were always friendly always happy and didn't expect anything. Where as the fuck stick that brings me my ranch dressing after I have already ate my salad because he forgot about it, still expects minimum 15% from me because I have to.

There is a minimum Federal wage in the U.S., but certain occupations are allowed to bypass that. Jobs like waiters, and I believe some farm jobs. So the $2.13 wage for waiters is allowed, even though the Federal min. wage. is I believe $7.15 now

Another thing that's important to note, is that my restaurant is regularly on an hour long wait so these campers are also making a worse experience for the new set of customers.

Wow I thought I was the one getting served here. I'M THE FUCKING CUSTOMER. What if i'm trying to close a deal with a client and we finish eating. Do I have to GTFO and potentially lose my deal? Fuck you if you are server and you think that way.

This thread is retarded but its not the fault of nobody here. The states and any other country were people feel that they need to be tipped no matter how the service is need to do what they do in South America.

at 10 - 15% service charge at the end of the bill. simple. We tip extra only if the service was outstanding. I really hate the fact that your service changes if you don't tip.

Shit forgot the bread somebody go grab it. Go order their appetizer from the cook. Go run up to the window and check to see if its done while the other 3 people are waiting at the table.

Yell at the asshole cook who doesn't really give a fuck if you ever get your appetizer because he is making the same hourly wage no matter what. Finally you get your appetizer now you need another drink and you have to order your entrees from the cook. You didn't really like the appetizer that much so now you have to go deal with the the cook directly, grab yourself another drink and order the entrees while someone else in your party clears the salad plates....

Well shit, I don't go the back of the plane to get my water nor do I go downstairs to the laundry room to get my clean towels at a hotel. Why is my responsibility to make sure this employees who enhance my experience get paid? it is the responsibility of the restaurant to pay their servers in order to enhance my experience as a customer. How to do that without losing revenue? make your food a little more expensive or put a 10% service charge at the bottom of the bill.
  18. I don't tip because society says I have to. All right, if someone deserves a tip, if they really put forth the effor, I'll give them something, a little extra something. But this tipping automatically, it's for the birds. As far as I'm concerned, they're just doing their job.
  19. if you didn't pay anything at that point, she is wrong, obv.
but you said she was complaining about her $2 tip. if there was $2 leftover, something was paid. in that case, i admire her for doing that. $2 tip is an insult. how long was it from when you paid to when she came up to you?
or, did she confuse you with another table that paid and confused it with you? i'm confused.
