Just curious what you all do for a living/career and if you're happy with it so far.
I have a BS in communications from SUNY and couldn't find a decent job. I'm currently in grad school for education. Not sure if I wanna be a teacher :-/
You? -
fuck bitches, get money.
yes. -
I love you

Public accountant (called a Chartered Accountant in Canada). Just moved back to my hometown (where I wanted to move for the last 6 or 7 years) and opened my own firm where I'm the sole owner. Love it. Honestly couldn't be happier, I love what I do.

Business Development. Job I got about 5 months ago and I fucking love it. 100% full paid benefits, matching 401K, semi annual bonuses and equity stake in the company. Also the biggest salary I've ever had and I get it all while working from home.
Of course I had many years of shit jobs before I got this one. I earned this bitch. -
High Speed Aluminum Tubing.

sorry to hear you didn't get the bump.

Posted about this last week (which many of you were helpful with): Starting (finally) my last semester of college on Tuesday, and starting a 3-month internship with the price settlements department of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange next week. My hope is to parlay it into a full-time job with the CME Group and eventually move into trading. 18 months ago I was a full-time poker player with an incomplete education, a blank resume, and had no idea what I wanted to do. Now I'm about to finish school, have a pretty clear idea of what I want to do, and have a foot in the door of a place that fits those interests. Hard to say whether I should be happy with my career yet since I technically have no future past May, but I think I've come a long way in the last few months.

Went to school at ASU but dropped out sophomore year.
Got into the insurance industry and it sucked my soul away.
Got into growing ganja with a few other friends, and now that it's legal in AZ, we're trying to get in on the boom while there is still a good profit to be made.
Love what I do. Involved in all aspects of the industry from cultivation, setting up rooms, consulting, etc.
I'm not sure I could ever go back into an office setting again. I kind of feel like how some of you online poker players probably felt when the boom hit. It's nice to be able to do pretty much whatever the fuck you want - go out late any night of the week, sleep in 'til noon. Just like poker, you get out what you put in. -

thats awesome can you hire me? -
In my 18th year as a teacher myself, and I couldn't imagine doing anything else. I am teaching the exact classes that I want to teach, and I am the assistant cross-country and assistant track coach, which is also perfect. I will tell you that the first few years teaching can be very stressfull, but it gets better.

Funny, I would've thought you'd be controlling the drug trade in West Baltimore not Arizona.

Sounds like you teach middle school/HS? I'm currently tracked for elementary, possibly getting certified through 8th grade. I'd rather teach the subjects/content of HS but not the kids. I remember everyone in HS being pretty miserable and not wanting to be there at all. I dn man. I just feel like a pretty big loser these days. Also still live at home.

Mkind, that was pretty inspiring, good luck brother.
Also, Avon, that sounds like a dream. I live in NY though :-( Could always check out VT? -
Standard office job. Decent money. Dont like it nor hate it too much. Recently been moved to a new team and its all 1 to 1's, team meetings, quarter yearly updates with awards etc
I really hate all that shit but job itself is just meh -
I ripped this thread from the roganboard. Their responses were generally a lot more negative in terms of their level of happiness. I don't know why. Interesting though.

I work in advertising as a studio manager. I took a year off last year and this year I am on a one year contract that will end in Dec. I really like the place I am working at now and would snap take a full time position. It is more the way a place is ran and the people that work at it that make a company a great place to work.
