The Shining obv.
Jacob's Ladder if you haven't seen it.
These are the only two movies that I watched alone, in my place, in broad daylight, as was fucking terrified. -
exorcist scared the shit outta me. slept with my gun for 6 months.

The Ring
Friday the 13th
Halloween
And if you want a movie that just scares the shit out of you, gotta go with The Exorcism of Emily Rose. Deeply disturbed me and all of the people that I watched it with. -
The Thing 1982 was pretty scary. Good special effects. Wilford Brimley was cool in it. Had Richard Dysart, Kurt Russell also.

The Japanese versions of The Ring, Ju-On (the grudge), and so on are absolutely amazing and take a huge dump on their American counterparts. Another one that I liked the Japanese version and was bored to tears by the American version was Dark Water.
Shaun of the Dead is fantastic, as are all the Evil Dead movies.
The Shining and The Exorcist are pretty badass obv, and for some reason I always liked The People Under the Stairs.
And it's hard to go wrong with the original Scream, no matter how dumb it is.
The horror genre pretty much died when there was an even split between torture porn and pg-13 horror and no great suspensful well-written stuff in the middle. I blame Eli Roth. -
freaking chills. i'm gonna have to leave the lights on to sleep tonight. my wife just asked why i was screaming like her.

The Ring scared the fuck out of me, idk what it was..
The exorcism of Emily Rose seriously scared me too, i still am creeped out by the time 3am. -
suprised no one suggested The Others. full of suspense. one of only two movies to ever scare me the other being The Exorcist
-
Drag me to hell was fing stupid, yet so awesome at the same time. Me and my ladyfriend both almost vomited at several points of the movie. Not gonna ruin it, but the funeral scene, ahh the funeral scene.

But I "corrected" them sir. And when my wife tried to prevent me from doing my duty, I "corrected" her.
