start out with la crema pinot noir... or if you want or if you want osmething a little more full bodied and spicy grab a penfolds zinfandel

youre gay drink beer...
but for serious, i am a red wine drinker when the opportunity arrises... i dont like real fruity wines, because they are a bit too sweet for me. i like to stick to the cabernet sauvignon, or shiraz/shirah. I am also a fan of chianti/sangiovese but i dont like to drink them while im not eating something. if you want to go for white wine i would suggest a chardonnay as its a bit crisper and more oaky not fruity. hope this helps a lil -

it all depends on what you like?.....
some of my favorite reds: pinots, cabernets, shirazs/syrahs, tempranillos, a lot of different blends and some other stuff.........
you can find a lot of good value wines from Spain, Australia, Argentina, New Zealand, California and a few other regions......also good wines from Italy and France sometimes overpriced........
just have to experiment and find out what you like.....maybe go to a local wine tasting/wine and jazz fest
usually a lot of people like to start out on sweeter white wines like Rieslings and Moscatos...... -
red wine >>> white wine
pinot noir, cabernet sauvignon and sangiovese are my favorites..... but looking forward to trying more in Sonoma in 2 weeks.
nothing wrong with a lil wine! (or a whole bottle) -
Shiraz is one of my favourite reds... its got a very full flavour, but is also extremely drinkable.
Australia makes some very good wines these days. Try something from Peter Lehmann if they carry it at your local liquor store. Australian producer of the year in 2008. -
Casillero del Diablo is also an excellent Cabarnet Sauvignon from South America.

rose>white>>>>>>>>red obv but if u have to drink red i would say stick to australian wines. I had a Banrock Station Sparkling Shiraz recently that was pretty awesome but i think with wine it doesnt matter how much u spend, u will like some wines and hate others. more about trying them out and finding what u like

If you want to do this the right way, start with whites.
Start in Germany with a Riesling and Gewurtztraminer, a little sweeter, but good starting wines. Then you move up from there Italy for some Pinot Grigio. Cali for some Chardonnay etc. Point is start on the lighter side and move your way up to more robust wines.
Do the same thing for reds. Start with less tannic reds (someone correct me here, cause reds arent my specialty). Try going with Beaujolais, Zinfandel, Merlot and the Cab. Sav in that order. It should allow your palate time to adjust to the dryness of the highly tannic red wines.
Hope this helps. Also, whoever said Yellowtail is dumb, that wine is dogshit. -
I'm not a wine drinker either, but I bought some barefoot Cabernet to marinate some flat iron steak. I decided to drink the rest. UGH, yuck that shit was gross.
-
I drink almaden and blackbox. Yes they are both in boxes and they are both decent
-
I agree with Denty. I was coming in here to post Yellowtail :)

More like Bud LIght. Franzia is more like Natty Light, you dont care what it tastes like as long as you get sauced. People that drink Budlight=Yellowtail, just content and use to what they are drinking. Experimenting with whites and reds is like trying great Belgians and Stouts.

Remember it doesnt have to be expensive to be good. You can find great wines for $10-20. Places I go will have Wine Spectator Magazine scores in front of the wines. Ill just look for wines that score over 90, but are under $20. Usually find some good stuff that way. -
disagree with the natty lite comment. natty lite is water plus hops. yellowtail is juice plus alcohol. seriously check it out though. i really dislike bitter wine and the stuff real adults drink but my girlfriend and i would regularly split two bottles of yellowtail because its just so yummy. drinking it by yourself or with dudes is definitely extra fag though. i have never ever had wine without females present except for the two times we ran out of alcohol and borrowed a bottle from my friends asian parents who just store it for show.

Is your friend Asian too or just his parents?

lol at yellowtail. Any jug of wine you can buy for ten bux is probably going to be pretty much the same... Spend two more dollars and get Woodbridge or Kendall Jackson. Jeezus. -
lol wp
